Tomorrow we are having a speaking session with one of my groups, and the topic we‘ve chosen might seem interesting to you as well. It’s about how we cajole ourselves into thinking that buzzing social life is a key to happiness. For some reason we internalised the idea that staying in equals wasting our finite time on Earth. But what if we accept a healthy dose of dull and switch from FOMO (fear of missing out) to JOMO (joy of missing out)?

I’m loafing on my coach now and the sun is beaming through the window. What a day, huh? But there’s one problem. You (just like me) might have a nagging feeling of remorse for staying in instead of soaking up the sun outside. And you know what? There’s a psychological term for it! A week ago in the course for teachers I’m doing now we discussed a podcast about over-achievers which deeply resonated with me (and even had a therapeutic effect). I hardly ever do additional creative homework on the course, but this time is different. I couldn’t resist recording a lil 7-minute podcast about my own experience. Here I’m telling what it’s like to be an over-achiever, why the imposter syndrome and burnout come hand-in-hand with the desire to have it all and, most importantly, sharing several simple steps that helped me if not to combat my striving for success but at least to tame it :)
