How to answer questions about you last project?

Here are some strategies that can help you discuss your work eloquently and ethically.

📌Focus on Skills, Not Specifics:

Instead of discussing the exact details of the project, talk about the skills you employed and developed. Talk about the novelty, complexity... and your excitement about the project:

💡 We leveraged some of the latest methodologies/technologies, such as AI/machine learning/blockchain, which made it a groundbreaking project
💡 I tackled a multi-faceted role which involved handling intricate problems and finding effective solutions
💡 One of the most exciting aspects of my role was the chance to work on such an innovative project

📌Use Analogies and 'X Meets Y':

To provide some context about the type of project, consider using analogies or
'X meets Y' descriptions. This can give
your interviewer an idea of the nature
of your project without revealing specifics.

For instance, if you developed an ML model
for a healthcare company, you could say:

💡I worked on a project that was like
developing an algorithm for predicting
weather patterns, but in a healthcare
context
💡"Imagine Netflix meets Tinder, but for healthcare."

Receiving feedback that feels more like criticism can be challenging 😰

Here are some simple phrases that can help you navigate these situations effectively. (And remember, it's what you say in the meeting room, not the break room, that truly counts🫣)

Active Listening:
📌I see what you're saying...
📌So what you're saying is...

Asking for clarification:
📌Could you give me an example of that?
📌Could you explain a bit more about...
📌What do you suggest I do differently?

Reflect and respond:
📌I'll take your points into consideration...
📌I will work on improving... 📌You've given me something to think about...

Seeking constructive feedback:
📌What specifically can I do to improve?
📌How would you approach this differently?

Do you think these phrases could be helpful?

🙈Long time, no see. We are back to help you improve your communication at work, get a new job, and hopefully, entertain. Stay tuned... and let's talk a bit about interviews!

🧑‍🏫Preparing for a CTO or Tech Leader interview can feel like you're stepping into a high-stakes game of chess. You know you need to think strategically, show that you can deal with complexity and multiple high-priority tasks, but how do you demonstrate these skills in the hot seat?

Identifying and Prioritising Issues. Useful phrases:

To identify the critical issues, I conducted
a thorough analysis and realised that...

I prioritised the issues based on their impact
on the overall project, which led me to focus on...

By differentiating the urgent issues from
the important ones, I was able to formulate
a plan that...

Useful vocabulary:
pinpointing
detecting
recognising
ranking
ordering
weighing

Embracing complexity. Useful phrases:

I tackled the complexity of the problem
by dissecting it into smaller, manageable parts...

By segmenting the problem, I was able to...

The key to solving this issue was
deconstructing it into its basic elements...

Useful vocabulary:
segmenting
sub-dividing
chunking
simplifying

🧑‍🎓Новичков в IT

18:30 (Kyiv time)

📌English for UI/UX, уровень B1-B1+. 10:15 (Kyiv time)

📌“I've never thought of it that way. I want to write that down”

**let a person think that you are open-minded and curious

📌“I hate to complain, but man I wish we were sitting at a café right now instead of doing yet another video call.”**it's a good start of a small talk

📌If you want to turn your camera off:
“Since the presentation is over is everyone okay with turning off the camera?”
“I’m a bit Zoomed out for the day. Is it cool if we just talk?”

Одна из метрик успешных уроков – STT (student's talking time) and TTT (teacher's talking time).
