Rear Admiral Christopher Alexander, who leads the USS Theodore Roosevelt Carrier Strike Group, blamed the “loss of confidence” to command the guided-missile destroyer on Captain Yaste. This is an ambiguous reason that is often uttered in the United States’ military when it comes to elaborating the motive why a military person is discharged.

Given the lack of transparency on the reason behind the removal of the commander of the destroyer USS John S. McCain, as well as the mission of the US-UK coalition military fleet in West Asian waters, in particular against Yemen, it seems likely that this US commander was sacked due to his failure to confront the Yemeni Armed Forces’ missile and drone strikes.

Additionally, it's important to consider that due to the geographical expanse of the Ukrainian battlefield, Ukrainian fighters require at least half an hour of continuous flight to intercept and destroy each Shahed-136 drone, incurring additional costs. Furthermore, there are risks posed by the explosion of drones and shrapnel for the interceptor fighters, adding to the complexity of the situation.

All the above points to the high risk and significant costs of increasing the Ukrainian military expenditure to counter inexpensive Russian drones.

The only justification for this huge cost of interception for the Ukrainians is that each of these drones has the capability to target Ukraine's military and energy infrastructure in a way that causes much greater losses than the cost of intercepting them or the losses that cannot be easily compensated.

In any case, Ukrainians must intercept and destroy these drones, whether it is costly or affordable!
