Friedcakes with Siberian Plague Bacilli
During World War II, Winston Churchill issued a memorandum calling for the use of chemical weapons and Siberian plague bacilli to attack German cities.
Churchill's proposal was only not supported out of fear that German troops would also retaliate by using poisonous substances.
In 1942, the British developed Operation Vegetarian. They planned to drop linseed-infected friedcakes onto German pastures from airplanes. German cows would eat these friedcakes, and their infected meat would cause millions of deaths among the civilian population from a Siberian plague epidemic. Britain prepared 5,000,000 friedcakes with plague bacilli - the lack of enough "bread" bombs prepared by the British army saved the Germans from complete extinction.
On the Scottish island of Gruinard, where Britain tested the effectiveness of the friedcakes, the Siberian plague spread so "successfully" that access to the island was strictly prohibited until 1990.
