In yogic terms, this is a form of pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses). One of my fave of the 8 limbs of yoga.
Plus, it involves the practice of study and concentration.

niyama (observances)
asana (posture)
pranayama (breathing)
pratyahara (withdrawal)
dharana (concentration)
dhyana (meditation) and
samadhi (absorption).
