AEGEE Summer Events 2024: Part 3

We continue sharing reviews of our members from last year.
This time we asked Masha to tell us about the summer event in Istanbul from last year ?

New experiences and impressions

The experience of my first summer event was the most unforgettable, those were the most eventful days of the whole summer, and undoubtedly the happiest ?

Events and activities

The summer event took place in Istanbul, a city with the grand history and the exciting present. In the first few days, we explored the city, the main museums, palaces, and mosques, and even attended a coffee ground reading workshop ☕️
We also went to an island and explored the second coast of Istanbul ?
Of course, after each eventful day, there were no less eventful evenings - themed parties in bars, the boat party, and much more.

Brightest memories

I particularly remember the last 2 days when we went to a camp on the beach - it was a real relief after the bustling Istanbul. It was great to swim in the sea and chat about everything under the sun ?

Interesting stories

There were hundreds of them: broken wine bottles right before the Euro night, the police that came to our yacht ?
With such a company, something was constantly happening, and it was great!

Turkey itself is very friendly, and the organizers were nothing but warm ❤️
I won't deny that I was worried there might be questions, sideways glances, especially since I was the youngest. But all the guys were and are the most wonderful, and there were no unpleasant situations ?

Living conditions

We stayed in a hostel in the city center, from where it was convenient to get to the restaurants and sights ?The hostel itself was nice and cozy: lots of areas and terraces where we could socialize.

Just wanted to share some advice on crafting your motivational letter ✉️

1️⃣Stand out from the crowd

Your motivational letter should highlight what makes you unique and, most importantly, your enthusiasm for the program you're applying to! Feel free to share your unconventional hobbies, life experiences, or anything that will make your letter memorable amidst countless others.

2️⃣Why you?

Your motivational letter should articulate why you're the perfect candidate for the summer university. What do you hope to gain from this experience? And how will it contribute to your future goals?

3️⃣Get creative
Inject some originality into your document. Consider incorporating visuals like photos, videos, or illustrations, as long as they complement the theme of your letter.

4️⃣Seek feedback
Once you've drafted your letter, it's helpful to have a friend review it. Their feedback can help you refine your arguments and address any issues - remember, your letter needs to be written in English.

‼️These tips are just suggestions to steer you in the right direction. Ultimately, the writing strategy is up to you!

Решили напомнить тебе несколько советов по написанию мотивационного письма ✉️

1️⃣Выделяйся
В мотивационном письме важно показать свою уникальность и самое главное — интерес к выбранной программе! Тут как раз можно рассказать о своих необычных хобби, жизненном опыте и о том, что позволит выделить твое письмо среди сотни других.

2️⃣Почему именно ты?
В motivation letter важно рассказать про себя и объяснить, почему именно ты должен поехать в летний университет. Что этот опыт тебе даст? И как поможет в будущем?

3️⃣Дай волю экспериментам
Попробуй добавить оригинальности в документ. Можешь разбавить текст фото, видео, иллюстрациями. Главное, чтобы это относилось к теме письма.

4️⃣Со стороны виднее
После того как закончишь письмо, обязательно дай почитать другу. Так ты получишь фидбэк, сможешь подкорректировать логику изложения и исправить недочеты — помним, что письмо пишется на английском.

‼️ Эти советы всего лишь рекомендации, которые направят тебя. Но стратегию написания выбираешь ты сам!
