Imposing tariffs of this scale without confirming our industries and workers can actually meet domestic demand is economic suicide.

Without the domestic production base to replace those imports, all we’ll see is inflation and supply shortages—further crushing the lower classes who are already struggling to make ends meet.

It’s not going to scare countries into sticking with the our dollar just because they want to trade with us. It’s going to be the final nail in the coffin and convince these nations to embrace other methods of trade and strengthen BRICS.

Is it just another one of his exaggerated bluffs? Probably, but still a ridiculous comment to make when the entire subject of the interview is the economy.

I am convinced that following a leader is necessary. I also am just as convinced that the goal of a leader is to lead, not to take advantage of. It is to be the instructor and organizer of thought and almost nothing more. You need to have faith in a leader, so long he doesn't begin to twist his own word. You need a guiding light amidst a raging storm. I see a leader not as a man in a high castle ordering his men around knowing nothing of how they feel, but as a man who is on the ground himself while his men march.
