Puerto Princesa Underground River, Philippines
Puerto Princesa Underground River, Philippines
Puerto Princesa Underground River, Philippines
The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is a protected area of the Philippines located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of the city centre of Puerto Princesa, Palawan. The river is also called Puerto Princesa Underground River. The entrance to the subterranean river is a short hike or boat ride from the town Sabang.
In 2010, a group of environmentalists and geologists discovered that the underground river has a second floor, which means that there are small waterfalls inside the cave. They also found a cave dome measuring 300 m (980 ft) above the underground river, rock formations, large bats, a deep water hole in the river, more river channels, and another deep cave, as well as marine creatures and more. Deeper areas of the underground river are almost impossible to explore due to oxygen deprivation.
It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. Also Puerto Princesa Underground River was provisionally chosen as one of the New7Wonders of Nature in 2012.

Beach with the whitest sand
We already wrote about the beach with black sand #spain
And let's continue such a summer theme now. Look at the beach with the white sand. And it's not the Maldives or the Dominican Republic - it's in Australia.
Hyams Beach is located in Jervis Bay, 180 km from Sydney. The local coast consists of very fine and soft sand of white color. In addition to beauty - it is also very clean - it used for telescopes glass production. Also this place is a favorite point for weddings, photo sessions and filming.
The idea of 'the whitest beach in the world' was promoted by local tourism organizations but there are strong 'competitors' in other parts of Australia, Japan and other countries.

Central Park in NYC

Mystic Newgrange in Ireland
Newgrange is the best known Irish passage tomb and dates to c.3,200BC. The large mound is approximately 80m in diameter and is surrounded at its base by a kerb of 97 stones. The most impressive of these stones is the highly decorated Entrance Stone.
The flat-topped cairn is almost 0.5 hectares in extent. It is roughly circular and is estimated to weigh 200,000 tonnes in total.
The mound covers a single tomb, which consists of a long passage and a cross-shaped chamber. The passage points to the southeast and is just less than 19 m long. A corbelled roof covers the chamber. To construct the roof, the builders overlapped layers of large rocks until the roof could be sealed with a capstone, 6 metres above the floor. After 5000 years, the roof at Newgrange is still water proof.
Of the many notable features at Newgrange, the most famous is the small opening or ‘roof box’ situated above the passage entrance. At dawn on the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year (December 21st) and for a number of days before and after, a shaft of sunlight enters the chamber through an opening in the roof box.
