Friday, known as Jumu'ah, holds a special place in Islam, offering numerous opportunities for spiritual enrichment. Engaging in the Sunnah practices associated with this blessed day can deepen one's connection to the faith. Here are some recommended acts, along with references from authentic sources:

1. Performing Ghusl (Ritual Bath):

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized the importance of taking a bath on Fridays. Abu Sa'id Al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every male (Muslim) who has attained the age of puberty."

1. Using Miswak (Toothstick):

Maintaining oral hygiene is encouraged, especially before the Friday prayer. The Prophet ﷺ said: "The taking of a bath on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty and (also) the cleaning of his teeth with Siwak..."

1. Wearing Clean and Presentable Clothes:

Dressing in one's best attire for Jumu'ah is recommended. Allah says in the Qur'an: "O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid..." (Surah Al-A'raf, 7:31) Additionally, the Prophet ﷺ advised wearing clean clothes for the Friday prayer.

1. Applying Perfume:

For men, using a pleasant fragrance before attending the mosque is encouraged. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever comes to Friday prayer, let him bathe himself, apply perfume if he has it, and use the toothstick."

1. Cutting Nails and Personal Grooming:

Engaging in personal hygiene, such as trimming nails, is part of the natural disposition (fitrah) and is recommended before Jumu'ah. Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet ﷺ mentioned five acts of fitrah, including trimming the nails.

1. Reciting Surah Al-Kahf:

It is Sunnah to recite Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever reads Surah Al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next."

1. Sending Salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ:

Increasing the sending of blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ is highly recommended on Fridays. He said: "Send blessings upon me abundantly on the day of Friday and its night..."

1. Arriving Early for Jumu'ah Prayer:

Attending the mosque early for the Friday sermon and prayer is encouraged. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever takes a bath on Friday like the bath for Janaba and then goes (to the mosque), it is as if he offered a camel (in sacrifice)..."

1. Walking to the Mosque:

If feasible, walking to the mosque is meritorious. Each step taken is rewarded, as the Prophet ﷺ mentioned.

1. Engaging in Du'a (Supplication):

There is a special hour on Friday during which supplications are accepted. The Prophet ﷺ said: "There is a moment on Friday in which a Muslim does not ask Allah for anything but He gives it to him."

By observing these Sunnah practices, one can attain the blessings and spiritual benefits associated with Jumu'ah, fostering a deeper connection with Allah and His Messenger.

Shaykh Ibn Uthaymeen:

Some people say "I will marry who is not religious, perhaps Allah will guide her at my hands"

And we say:"We are not entrusted with what will happen in the future. As for the future, We do not know about it, it may be you marry her while desiring that Allah will guide her in your hands, However it may be that she may change your state to what she is upon.
