I quit CS

*All species and subspecies of wolves live and hunt in families called packs. Birds relocate flying in flocks and shoal of fish do schooling, that is, they swim together in the same direction in a coordinated manner.

It is easy to survive and operate in large groups, for both animals and humans. Yet, it is those who swim against the current who face the biggest challenges.*

Sitting in front of my mansion, with my legs dipped in the swimming pool, and with my Mac on my lap producing countless sounds from its keyboard as I build the apps. A senior software engineer - the only career that I would wish and imagine.

No other life path would seem to suit me, or I wouldn't even dare to think about one.

Pascal was the first programming language I learnt at school informatics class of grade 7 or 8. I later joined One Million Uzbek Coders where I studied Android App Development.

Then, in January 2023, I started attending a Backend Web Development course at Najot Ta'lim where things got a lot more serious. Lessons every other day, loads of homework, gradual improvement, coder vibe at its best.

I successfully graduated the course in 6 months and spent a total of over 15 months studying and practicing in this field. Everything was great until...

Days like seconds, and seconds like days.

November, December, January, February and March. I can proudly say that these 5 months made a big difference. I would call this period as Months of Change. I changed my lifestyle, the people I love, favorite activities, and even my intended major.

I spent weeks on a deadline-stress mode and witnessed how days can pass in seconds. I waited for important decisions that could throw me in one way or another in life, and witnessed how seconds can pass like days.

I gave up one thing that completely changed the way I perceive the world which consequently changed my goals and what I wanted to do with my life.

Here I am, with novel ideas, aims and experiences worth writing novels about.

Izohlarni hammasini o'qishga harakat qildim. Sabablar turlicha: ustozlarning oyligi, maktabdagi tizim, va boshqa sabablarga ko'zim tushdi. Ammo shularni orasidan Early Childhood Education (Erta yoshdagi ta'lim) haqida yozishganini topolmadim.

Mashhur gap bor: "Garvard muvaffaqiyatli insonlarni yetishtirmaydi, Garvard ularni qabul qiladi". Universitetlarning darajasi pastligiga sabab ko'p hollarda o'quvchilar darajasi pastligidan bo'ladi deb o'ylayman. O'quvchilar qayerdan keladi? Maktabdan!

Maktablar uchun huddi shu gapni qo'llashimiz mumkin. Shaxsan o'zimni hayotimda CIC School juda katta burilish yasagan. Ustozlarning darajasi, yoki maktabdagi imkoniyatlar sababli emas, balki atrofimdagilar sababli. Sinfdoshlarim o'z ustimda tinmay ishlashga majbur qilishgan, o'zlarining amallari bilan.

Xop, maktablarga qayerdan kelishadi?

Bog'chadan! Bog'chaga qayerdan keladi? Ota-onadan.

Ajdodlarimiz haqida gap ketganda, odatda ularni yoshligiga nazar solishni unutamiz. Ibn sino 5 yoshgacha, va Al-Xorazmiy tahminan 10 yoshigacha hafiz ul-Quron bo'lishgan. Tug'ilganlaridan boshlab ilmga muhabbat qo'yishgan. Ularning hayotini yaxshi o'rganmaganman, ammo ishonchim komilki, ularning ota-onalari farzandlari ta'lim olishi uchun maktabga chiqishini kutishmagan. Birinchi kunidanoq ta'lim berishgan.

Atrofimizga qaraylik, go'daklar vaqtini qanday sarflashmoqda? Qolganlarda qanday bilmadim, lekin o'zimning juda yosh qarindoshlarim telefonda ko'rayotgan 'tresh' videolarini ko'rib daxshatga tushaman, va ularning kelajagidan juda ham havotirdaman.

Aynan shuning uchun, Cognitive science sohasida tadqiqotchi bo'lishni niyat qildim. Early Childhood Education manimcha yaqindagina Iroda Ahmed ning harakatlari bilan juda ko'p ota-onalarda qiziqish uyg'otdi. Aynan shu sohani O'zbekistonda rivojlantirsak, sanab o'tilgan muammolarni hammasi bartaraf etilgan bo'lardi deb o'ylayman.

81 ta davlatdan 78-o'rin -- bu televizor ko'rib katta bo'lgan, va qopqoq ostidan yutuq qidirgan yoshlar, ya'ni bizning natijamiz. Shorts va reels ko'rib katta bo'layotgan yoshlarimizning natijasi bundanda ayanchli deb qo'rqaman.

Going deeper into thinking about what I could have possibly done wrong with early applications, I identified a problem at the core. At the base. In the intention.

I regret to say that I have been effected by the public recognition successful applicants receive once they get in. The hype. The end-to-end interviews. Surge in the amount of subscribers. A big surge!

Although I may not have consciously intended this as a major motive, I now see there has been a small portion of pride I intended at the end of this application journey. Oftentimes, I would imagine myself standing at the peak of the mountain I wanted to climb, and teaching others how to reach that destination, before wearing the helmet, putting the first step, and attaching the rope to the rock myself. Instead of focusing on the health benefits I could get from mountain climbing, I focused on how I would feel once I set my country's flag at the peak. The intention was troublesome. The intention was fallacious.

Yet, I was lucky to have worn a helmet that saved me from a 5-meter-fall. Although with injuries, yet with a corrected intention, I put steps into climbing from scratch. Throughout this journey, I will focus and enjoy every step I put, every axe that I attach, every rope I hold. And if I ever get to the top, I will try my best not to make it public. Those who deserve the credit will receive the credit. That's it!

Artists love drawing, writers love crafting. The process of it. Perhaps, much more than the ready work.
