Short Play: History of Tobacco

Last term, our grade 7 and 8 students finished the year with a drama performance on the History of Tobacco, covering concepts learned in Social Studies & Science. To raise awareness about the harms of smoking and cigarettes, they shared their knowledge with the school students.

Students were provided only a storyline and had to develop their own script. The entire class came together to write a cohesive script and composed their own lines, rehearsed for only two days and produced a beautiful drama.

The entire learning experience from how the units are taught in class, how multi-disciplinary connections are made, and how students are taught to see the profanity of the modern world in its attempts to commodify and capitalize on sacred traditions and rituals is a great example of holistic education and Islamic pedagogy at play at Al Haadi School.

As part of their current unit on Matter, Grade 5 conducted a lab experiment to determine which substance melts ice the fastest. The student scientists formulated a research question: "Which substance melts ice faster?"

They developed hypotheses, performed the experiment, and analyzed their findings. Throughout the process, they enjoyed the hands-on activity and learned valuable scientific skills at the same time.

Our grade 4 students also recited their first Farsi poetry for Imam Ali (a) during the Fihristiyya Book Fair.
