arr suite Do I need a VPN for everything?
This is my first time setting up an arr suite. I am not using Usenet (although I may try that in the future if I find a good provider sale). I want to make sure my ISP cannot track me, so I'm using a VPN (Surfshark) on my server (dedicated windows 11 machine).
I've read that it is safe to let Plex bypass the VPN since it is encrypted and only the people I invite have access. But that got me thinking: can I bypass the VPN for all of it except the BitTorrent client (qBitTorrent)?
If someone where to, heaven forbid, try and request a drm protected piece of media, the torrent client would be the only piece that could incriminate, right? There's nothing wrong with requesting and browsing torrent data, right?

Can Overseerr Exposed Publicly Enough?
The current setup,
Plex and all the **arrs under the sun are on one box and is all accessible only internally
Overseerr is setup as a docker under Docker Desktop running on Windows 2022 (I know I know... Windows lol) - but this works great and is much quicker as I initially had Overseerr on Docker Container on my synology --- anyway I digress.
I want to now have my overseerr explosed publicly so when I am out and about, and I come across a certain **legal movie/show I am interested in I like to immediately browse my Overseerr instance and add it.
My question is:
Do I need to go through the whole route of ngix or could I still do the cloudflare tunnel route in 2024? More specifically - would this be enough? I am total noob when it comes to this side of things now publicly exposing etc.
I guess what I am also trying to get at here is that, I can't understand where or the need for a public domain? I assume since it's Cloudflare tunnelling, this eliminates the need to get a domain like going down the traditional way of reverse proxy?
Thanks in advance.

Email Server Security Tests
I host my own email server with security top of mind. So I spend a considerable amount of time hardening it. Here are some publicly available security tests for email servers that I found helpful in validating my security configuration. I hope these are helpful for you too.

Noob here with probably a question that has been asked a million times.
Hi, I'm sure this has been asked a million times. At a minimum all I need is being pointed in the right direction or even to an already answered post or guide. I have some knowledge on building computers. I have plenty of hardware. I have always wanted a home server to take care off all my tech needs because i hate subscriptions and not owning my data. I just have no experience with servers. the first urgent task of the server is hosting all of my wife's pics and media (possibly with immich unless I learn of something better) since her phone doesn't have expandable storage and its hard for her to choose between family pics and work material.
Eventually I want to add a bunch of other services and roles to this server like VPN (this might go as the first thing on the server), ad block, Storage for the whole house, surveillance cameras and possibly a smart network later. Knowing what my intentions are, which software would be capable accommodating all this ongoing expansion that is also free? ill start the research journey but if ya'll can link some good tutorials or even creators that address these things id really appreciate it.

Setting up disks and volumes
So recently got my hands on a hardware RAID card, and I've never used one before. To be honest, I've never really done much with file systems or volume management before.
My master plan is to set up a RAID0 array on a collection of cheap SSDs I have, and use that as the 'working' drive.
I also have a 1TB and several 250GB HDDs. I was thinking of setting up the 250s in a RAID5 array and using them as a place to store backups (since the SSD array has no redundancy, it will be backed up nightly). Most of the actual data I need to access for the servers I'm running can all fit on the SSD array
Now I'm trying to figure out what filesystem(s) I should go with. I've heard that XFS has potentially better performance for a fast array. I also wonder if BTRFS or ZFS are worth considering for the 'backup' disks/array.
I haven't used BTRFS - it sounds cool but kinda seems like it'd be a pain in the ass to learn to administer, and i don't necessarily need very granular control of backups. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew.
I also need to consider whether or not to use LLVM. From what I understand it doesn't cost much overhead to set up, but can make it easier to manage disks/volumes. But then that's another thing to learn, which I'm not opposed to, but I don't want necessarily want to do unnecessary work.
I'm just a hobbyist to this is very much the deep end of the pool for me. If anyone has any experience with this sort of thing and wants to offer suggestions, or wants to tell me about how they set up their systems, I'd love to hear from you.
Proxmox Helper Scripts Website
Hi all,
As you may have seen, the official Proxmox VE Helper Scripts website has reverted to the old site, apparently for several reasons. I just wanted to let you know that the new site is still available and better! I am actively developing the site, and it would be lovely to have you all here. All credit still goes to tteck for providing these amazing scripts for us!
The repository for the website is also public, so anyone is welcome to develop for the site and bring new features to life.
I will try my hardest to keep the site as up to date as possible. but since tteck doesn't want any contact with me, its going to be a little hard.
(Still need to work on a proper domain)

Homepage dashboard setup help
I've tried to no avail to set up homepage using docker compose, docker run and even using stacks in portainer. The container always ends up being unhealthy and there are no logs created and the config directory is not filled up, just empty. On portainer I can see the last output in the container to be Connecting to localhost:3000 (127.0.0.1:3000) wget: can't connect to remote host (127.0.0.1): Connection refused
. After trying many different options, reading the docs, and chatgpt, I can't for the life of me figure out what's wrong. I'm presuming it should try connecting to my\-server\-address:3000
where my server address is 192.... However I can't find where to change it from localhost. I've also tried setting up homarr after failing at homepage and it worked, i.e. the container was healthy and accessible on the first try. Any help would be appreciated thanks.
Edit: I'm on Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS running on an Intel i5 laptop.

More fun projects like feeding ADS-B, Ripe Atlas, etc?
I have a lot of cool projects that involve feeding data which I really enjoy, suchas
Feeding ADS-B to FR24, FlightAware, ADSB-X and adsb.fi Hosting 2 x Ripe Atlas Probes on both of my WAN's
NTP Time from GPS Hosting a WeatherFlow Tempest Weather Station
What other cool projects are there like this? I enjoy hosting something on my network and seeing the results and interfacing with other systems, if that makes any sense
What else y'all got?
