“What I am about to say …

“What I am about to say does not concern the ordinary man of our day. On the contrary, I have in mind the man who finds himself involved in today's world, even at its problematic and paroxysmal points; yet he does not belong inwardly to such a world, nor will he give in to it. He feels himself, in essence, as belonging to a different race from that of the overwhelming majority of his contemporaries.

The natural place for such a man, the land in which he would not be a stranger, is the world of Tradition.”
― Julius Evola

It can be overwhelming at how bad things have gotten at times but it's important to remember that all of this was predicted and is playing out just like other events in history.  I often go back to Evola's book "Ride the Tiger", a difficult read to be certain, but the message left for us can be applied to a way of survival moving forward.  I believe that homesteading and becoming self sufficient is an important foundation to accomplish what Evola talks about.  Evola’s idea of Riding the Tiger can be explained as the person who can survive the ride through the modern world without falling off and being consumed by it.  When the modern world has run its course, we will be there to deal the final blow and rebuild.

The world asks that we reject our past and our ancestors, our religion, our lands, and our blood.  We should live on top of each other in cities, work for faceless corporations for just enough money to survive, worry only about ourselves and how we can be more comfortable, and happy ~ to worship ourselves as gods and to forsake everything needful for temporary pleasure.  An artificial, soulless existence far removed from the natural world.

Starting a homestead is in my opinion the way to fight back against the world and everything it stands for.  Growing your own meat and vegetables ensures your family is healthy far beyond what any store can provide.  Homeschooling your children and grandchildren ensures your values and culture are promoted and carry on into the future.  You become the "warrior in the garden" of old always preparing and ready to put down the beast of modernity when the time finally comes.

One of the best teachers of patience for my boys is farming. My third oldest son grows the watermelons every year. They get better each year!

In the past I've talked about …

In the past I've talked about many things that I believe will help build up a man.  Preparation, Motivation, Discipline, Strength Training, Family, Etc.   All of those things are great attributes to strive for, but too often we get dulled down in complacency, ruts, blocks, and obstacles.  I've talked about living Immediately to a point but I'd like to expand on that thought.

Some of the most successful men I've had the opportunity to work around all have a very important character trait, one that I struggle with myself.  A sense of urgency.  Looking past the temporary motivation, the cultivated discipline, and all the deep thought we put into our daily lives...we lack a sense of urgency.

Throughout history, the most decisive and great things that have been done, were done with a sense of urgency.  It has been said necessity is the root of invention.  Now more than ever it is necessary that we find a sense of urgency in all that we do in our daily lives.

It is urgent that you take care of yourself both spiritually and physically.  It is urgent that you lead your family and friends.  It is urgent that we put aside all of the worthless things of this world and prepare to charge ahead.  Raise your swords and shields and lead your men.  There is no time to be complacent.

The things that we battle with in our lives are better off delt with now instead of putting them off.  Help yourself and your family now.  Take ownership of the world around you.  If you don't, the evils of this world will dig in and be even harder to drive away.  The perpetual tug of war is going on whether you acknowledged it or not.  If you aren't pulling, the world always is.

Being a Father requires an investment …

Being a Father requires an investment into the future, building the kind of world around your homes and communities that you want to raise your children in.  More times than not though, the present rules the day.  The larger the family, the more involved in the moment we must be.  All of the teaching and coaching moments, the "hey Dad watch me!", and especially the "Dad can you fix this?".

There are different stages of life a man goes through.  In his youth he looks to the future, as a young Father he lives in the present, and in his age he remembers all the fond memories of the little voices and the stampede of feet rushing to greet him.  Treasure the present now so you don't miss out on memories to smile at in the future.

Happy Father's Day to my American followers tomorrow!

A man almost always has the …

A man almost always has the God created and God given desire to be great and flourish.  But he faces a great deal of anguish when he discovers that the road to flourishing seems closed off to him by his vices.

We find ourselves through work and struggle, creativity to build things, fixing things, coaching others, failing, and accomplishing.  Work requires discipline and when its applied to suppressing our vices, that energy is redirected into greatness.

Be honest with yourself and look at the path you've set upon.  The biggest obstacles we face are the ones we've created.

Don't stand in your way.

Having a happy life has little …

Having a happy life has little to do with possessions, but instead by being fulfilled.  We are most fulfilled when we live according to the laws of the natural world that God perfectly created for us.

With having a large family, people expect the parents to be overly stressed and miserable with the perceived chaos of it all.  Looking at what we can and can't control, letting children make and learn from mistakes, and having a good routine overcomes it all.  There are so many little moments that make you smile.

The biggest fulfillment of my life is watching my wife smiling at babies, seeing my sons grow and learn to challenge themselves, and living a simple life according to the laws of the natural world.

Very little is needed to make a happy life; it is all within yourself, in your way of thinking.” -  Marcus Aurelius.
