Befriend Your Fear, Create Meaning | Edgar Palomino | TEDxElmhurstUniversity

How self-imposed hard times lead me to discover how fear can be used to create meaning in life and enhance well-being. Edgar Palomino was born in Mexico City and has lived in the U.S. since 1995. He graduated from Aurora University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Psychology. Currently, he is in his second year at Elmhurst University’s I/O Psychology master’s program. He got involved in I/O when he discovered a great interest in understanding how certain psychological theories (e.g., GRIT & growth mindset) could possibly align with certain philosophical concepts aimed towards living a meaningful life. This interest originated from personal experience in observing how individuals truly struggle with finding meaning and purpose in their lives and occupation. One of his goals is aimed at continuing this exploration to do his part within the potential crisis in meaning that is being experienced today. Finding an Holding a Positive Voice in a Confrontational World | The Peach Cobbler | TEDxYouth@HCCS

A professional Content Creator, The Peach Cobbler livestreams videogame play on Twitch and produces materials on other social media. It may be healthy for opponents to challenge each other inside a game, but she was alarmed by the level of sexism and person hostility in the gaming world. Peach's uniquely positive perspective has enabled her to separate the words from the people; her philosophy enables her to address negativity without becoming a part of it. Peach has led anything but a cookie-cutter life. Having grown up on a farm, playing video games with her 14 siblings was one of her few “luxuries”. Peach moved to NYC and after a few years of modeling for large brands such as Kate Spade, she was at a party and played video games with a few friends. Someone introduced her to Twitch, a live streaming platform, and she took a leap of faith - starting a new chapter where her genuine personality, tenacity, and passion for positivity have brought her great success in her short time of streaming.
