Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله narrated that some of the Salaf said:

“If one does something in secret that he is shy from doing in public, this means that he means nothing to himself.”

[‘Madarij as-Salikin’: 2/353]

إذَا أردتَ شيئًا تُحِبُّه ، فَلا تعصِ اللّٰهَ فِي الوصُولِ إليهِ ؛حتَّىٰ لا يكونَ سببًا فِي حِرمانِكَ مِنهُ ، فإنَّ مَا عندَ اللّٰهِ لا يُدرَكُ بِمعَصيتِه

"If you desire something you love, do not disobey Allāh in reaching it, so that it does not become a reason for you to be deprived of it. For what is with Allāh cannot be attained through disobedience."

Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen رحمه الله:

“How many people really wanted to become righteous but remained in the company of those not righteous and then couldn’t do it.

If he were to have kept away from them, that would have been one of the ways to him being guided.”

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ:

‎The (Final) Hour has approached and people have not increased with Dunyā except in greed and they have not increased with Allāh except in distance.

Do you hold that there is there a limit for a girlʼs education (ie: where there is no ḥarām involved)?

"No, there is no limit, they should learn until they reach the highest level in order to get (benefit) and benefit (others)."

[Bin Bāz, Majmūʿ al-Fatāwá 8/35]

Dhū’l-Nūn al-Misrī:

'Once, while on a journey, I met a devout woman, from her saddened state it seemed like she had lost a child.

She asked me, "Where are you from?" I said, "I am stranger here." She exclaimed, "Stranger! Is it possible to feel the woes of strangeness when one is with Allāh, Mighty and Magnificent? He is the recourse and solace of the strangers and the helper of the weak!"

At this I started to cry and she said, "Know that crying relieves the heart and is something to recourse to, the heart has not repressed something more deserving [of display] than sighs and moans."

I said, "Teach me something!" She replied, "Love your Lord and desire to meet Him, for one day He will show Himself to those who love Him and they will attain their hope of seeing Him."

I then left her as I found her and went on my way.'

لا خير في زوج لا يأمر زوجته بالستر

There is no good in a husband that does not order his wife to cover

قيل: أين ذهب حياء النساء؟

It was said: "Where did women's modesty go?"

قالوا: ذهب يبحث عن غيرة الرجال!

They said: "It went searching for the men's gheerah!"

اللهم إنا نستودعك غزة وأهل غزة وكل فلسطين اللهم كن لهم عوناً ونصيراً اللهم إنا لا نملك الا الدعاء فيارب لا ترد لنا دعاء ولا تخيب لنا رجاء اللهم الطف بهم و اربط على قلوبهم فإن ليس لهم سواك

O Allāh, we entrust to You Gaza, its people, and all of Palestine. O Allāh, be their support and aid. We have nothing but prayers, so Lord, do not reject our supplications and do not disappoint our hopes. O Allāh, be merciful to them and strengthen their hearts, for they have no one but You.

When Muhammad Ibn Sireen رحمه الله was in debt, he was overwhelmed with grief because of it, and said, “I know that this grief is because of a sin which I did 40 years ago.”

It was asked, “What was it?”

He said: "40 years ago I called a man: Ya Muflis! (O bankrupt one)."

Al Darani رحمه الله said, "Because of their few sins they knew the reason for getting the punishment, but because of our many sins, we do not know for which of our sins we are being punished."

Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنه:

"I was behind the Prophet ﷺ one day when he said: 'O boy! I will teach you a statement: Be mindful of Allāh and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allāh and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allāh, and when you seek aid, seek Allāh's aid. Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to do something to benefit you- you would never get any benefit except that Allāh had written for you. And if they were to gather to do something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allāh had written for you. The pens are lifted and the pages are dried.'"
