"كان حلمًا لم أظن دنوّه ولكن فضل الله كان عظيمًا"

"It was a dream I never thought would come true, but the favour of Allāh has ever been great."

Sufyān Ath-Thawrī رحمه الله:

“Three matters are from patience:

Do not speak about your pain.

Do not speak about your calamity.

Do not praise yourself.”

القران كالصاحب
The Qur'ān is like a companion

كلما طالت الصحبه عرفت اسراره
The longer the companionship lasts, the more you learn its secrets

فالصاحب لا يعطي سره من يجالسه دقائق
For the companion does not disclose (reveal) his secrets to the one who accompanies him for a few minutes

ثم ينصرف
And then leaves.

Mu’āwiyah ibn Qurrah رحمه الله:

“Verily, among the people who will be taken into account the most is the healthy person who has free time!”

[Al-Mujālasah Wa-Jawāhir al-'ilm: 1325]

ʿAbdullāh ibn Abī Zakariyyā:

"Whoever speaks excessively will make frequent mistakes, and whoever makes frequent mistakes will have little piety, and whoever has little piety will have a dead heart, and whoever’s heart is dead, Allāh will forbid Paradise for him."

[كتاب الزهد لابن أبي عاصم (54)]

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

"Anyone Allāh disgraces will have no one who can honour him" [22:18]

When bowing down was hard to them and they took it lightly and refused to do it, Allāh disgraced them and there was no one to show respect to them. Who can honour someone who has been disgraced by Allāh? Or disgrace the one whom Allāh has honoured?

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله narrated that some of the Salaf said:

“If one does something in secret that he is shy from doing in public, this means that he means nothing to himself.”

[‘Madarij as-Salikin’: 2/353]

إذَا أردتَ شيئًا تُحِبُّه ، فَلا تعصِ اللّٰهَ فِي الوصُولِ إليهِ ؛حتَّىٰ لا يكونَ سببًا فِي حِرمانِكَ مِنهُ ، فإنَّ مَا عندَ اللّٰهِ لا يُدرَكُ بِمعَصيتِه

"If you desire something you love, do not disobey Allāh in reaching it, so that it does not become a reason for you to be deprived of it. For what is with Allāh cannot be attained through disobedience."

Shaykh ibn Uthaymeen رحمه الله:

“How many people really wanted to become righteous but remained in the company of those not righteous and then couldn’t do it.

If he were to have kept away from them, that would have been one of the ways to him being guided.”

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ:

‎The (Final) Hour has approached and people have not increased with Dunyā except in greed and they have not increased with Allāh except in distance.
