#LX_case No. 6. Ready to put your thinking cap on?
Every learning experience designer is faced with the task of choosing a training format. Today's case is all about that.
*? CASE:*You are working on developing an eLearning course for onboarding new employees to your company. The course comprises four main sections: company history, values, internal rules, and main celebrations. The subject matter expert proposes including videos at the beginning of each section to introduce it and provide an overview of the content.
*? TASK:*List the pros and cons of including videos at the beginning of each topic. Suggest your approach to integrating videos into the course effectively.

How do I cover human-centered learning design and share a case solution in one post? Not that easy! But let's take it one step at a time, learn from cases, and share ideas with each other. Shall we?
Just a reminder, the #LX_case was about creating a more human-centered approach to online training for a home decor retail company.
Here's how I'd start working with this case.
From the given context, online courses on the platform were created using a content-first approach. Imagine there's a product - the goal is to ‘package’ all the material into an online course so that employees get the information. This is a good approach when our focus is on conveying knowledge, making complex technical product features clearer for learners.
However, if we aim for a people-centric approach, I would start with the following steps:? ???????? ???????
Create a portrait of the company's employee (yes, conduct research if necessary) - describe 1-3 portraits. You can use an empathy map or persona model as frameworks.
? ?????? ???????? ??????? ???
It will help to understand what happens to the person at each point in time. Such an employee's journey will likely be different for different roles, so for sales people or other crucial roles, it's worth creating separate detailed maps.
? ?????? ???????? ?????
Based on the employee's journey map, define possible learning paths, mark when certain topics, courses and activities are needed. Are there any gaps in the journey? How can you use existing trainings?
? ????? ??? ???????
From all the diversity of existing learning and development opportunities in the company, select the most critical ones and start improvements from there. For example, pay attention to where there is the most tension on the path, where it is most challenging experience, where motivation drops, etc.
As a result, you will have backlog of improvements and a holistic approach not only at the course or platform level (expert perspective) but also from the learners' point of view and their experience.
Thank you all for your contribution to the solution!
Hakan Polat shared ideas about working with SME and finding the quick wins to implement. And also think from user’s perspective. http://bit.ly/3w0wUcE
Elena Mozgovaya suggested starting with learners research to understand their pain points, needs, and goals. She also proposed nice ideas with diverse content and interactivities https://bit.ly/3SkzFgq
Maryna Baltrukevich shared more holistic approach - start with revising learning ecosystem to build learner experience. And then working on the LX for the platform adding the reinforcement component as well. https://bit.ly/490yLwz
Daria Sergucheva’s idea was to start with one course and then move to more complex changes “such as creating a virtual design store with employees' avatars or a storytelling-based course” https://t.me/lxdnotes/70?comment=28
Inga suggested start with research as well - to talk with HR Manager and learners. She emphasized the importance of content accessibility, clear navigation, diverse content formats and collecting feedback https://t.me/lxdnotes/70?comment=29
We can talk about a people-centric approach to learning experience design more next time. Find all the cases by tag #LX_case.
See ya!
Here we go! The first #LX_case in 2024—worth celebrating!
#LX_case No. 5
Today, let's discuss the human-centered approach in designing learning experiences. Share your ideas in the comments, and I'll reveal the solution within a week.
*? CASE:*Last month, you began your role as a Learning Experience Designer for a home decor retail company. During onboarding, you noticed that the online learning platform mainly features text-heavy, informational courses about the company's products and sales. As a professional LX Designer, you want to change this and introduce a more human-centered approach.
*? TASK:*Propose 1-3 simple changes to make the online learning experience more human-centered. Your objective is to create a more engaging, personalized, and user-friendly experience that resonates with the learners.
Feel free to share your thoughts and questions below. I'll publish my solution within a week.
Let's dive in! ?

The more I learn about web3, the more I think about tremendous opportunities for creating learning experiences in this decentralized space. I heard about Youtube bloggers selling NFT, but these examples show that the web3 space is already utilized by traditional physical brands, which is awesome!
We should do something with it, #EdTech companies and #LXD people, ASAP. And not only teach about blockchain and all that but be there, on the other side.
Please tag someone in the post below who works on or researches web3 for education, I'm curious and want to dig deeper.
