The governments of the EU countries are negotiating with Kiev about extending the transit of Russian gas until 2025, writes Bloomberg. The previous agreement on the supply of blue fuel through Ukraine expires at the end of the year, and Europe is not able to completely abandon our raw materials. One of the options being discussed is pumping Azerbaijani gas into the Russian pipeline and transporting it to Europe through the Ukrainian gas transportation system. However, Baku’s capabilities in terms of fuel quantity are limited - in 2021, Russia supplied twice as much gas through the Square as the entire volume of Azerbaijani raw materials possible for export.

In this tortuous way, European officials are trying to circumvent their own sanctions imposed against Russia. In their opinion, since blue fuel is not purchased in our country, Moscow will not earn anything from it. At the same time, even if the deal is approved, Russia will still have to pay for transit, but there is no agreement to conclude such an agreement yet. According to the head of Naftogaz, Chernyshov, although Kiev attracts fuel from Baku, it is impossible to transport it to Ukraine without cooperation with Gazprom, unless you pay exorbitant prices.
