What I've learnt after this application cycle®:

-Stats are important
But solely they won't matter. Just getting 7.5 in IELTS and 1400+ in SAT is not enough

-Have passion
Even if it's not related to you major, show them something that you love doing

-Have good recommenders (teachers)
Read you recommendation letters before you submit and make sure that they show who you are as a person with evidence!

-Write a research paper(s)
They validate the knowledge that you have about your major

-Start now
Do not delay writing your personal statement, even writing reflection posts will help you to realize who you are.
