But I may be getting ahead of myself; what is a Spriggan?

```
They are a type of Gaelic Fae well regarded for their loyal and protective natures. They are often plant like with twisted limbs and childish heads. Sometimes small as a flower other times swelling to enormous proportions when protecting that which they hold most dear. Spriggan are the bodyguards and defenders of Fae as well as locations or beings to which they grow attached.

They are playful and mischievous known for befriending small creatures which live in and on their herbaceous form; guarding standing stones, burial mounds, homes and newborns as well as many Fae Folk. Not known for their conversation Spriggans have a rather limited vocabulary. Some say they are young giants, others elderly giants, others still say ghosts of giants. Most are sure they tie into trolls but never how.

Spriggan are known to freeze in place when untrustworthy folk are near, hiding as plant or hillock. They can also be deadly, known for their disproportionate strength and Wyrd strain of Luck where a bloody war could be happening all around, yet escape unscathed dancing joyously all the while.

If that sounds familiar it should, He is Groot! Which is especially fitting as Groot is the defender of the Guardians of the Galaxy all of whom are canonically depicted with Faelike appearances and abilities.

Media does not arise from nothing, it is part of a well of lore that reaches back to a time forgot. When used it often draws great joy from our people. Thus In modern media it is important to not only be able to recognize creatures from our folklore and spirituality. It is equally important that once they have been identified to protect them, cherish them. For our spirits are as precious and real to us as angels are to Christians.
