? Nansen Kills a Cat

Once the monks of the eastern and western Zen halls in Nansen’s temple were quarrelling about a cat. As he saw this, Nansen held up the cat and said, “You monks! If one of you can say a word, I will not slay the cat.” No one could answer. Nansen cut the cat in two. Nansen told Joshu what had happened, and asked him for his view. Joshu thereupon took his sandals, put them upon his head and went away. Nansen said, “If you had been there, I could have spared the cat.”

オン•カカカ・ビサンマエイ・ソワカ**

Kṣitigarbha (Jizō) Mantra

On Kakaka Bisanmaei Sowaka

Jizo is known for his vow to take responsibility for the instruction of all beings in the Six Worlds between the death of Gautama Buddha and Birth of Maitreya. He vowed not to obtain Buddhahood until all the Hell Realms are emptied. He is therefore often regarded as the bodhisattva of hell-beings, as well as the guardian of children and patron deity of deceased children and aborted fetuses in Japanese culture.
His mantra can increase luck, profit, prolong life and reduce suffering of all tortured beings. Recite this mantra for those who have fallen into the lower realms, so they may be guided out.

地蔵菩薩（じぞうぼさつ）とは、皆さんご存じの通り「お地蔵さん」の事です。
自分の身を挺して人に寄り添い、我々の苦脳を我が身に引き受け
苦しみから助ける（代受苦）という使命を担っているのが地蔵菩薩です。
地獄に落ちた人間まで助け、往生を助けるとも言われております。
サンスクリット語では「クシティガルバ」と呼ばれ、大地、子宮という意味合いです。
