Recently, I spoke about the delicious jalebis in Gohana and the opportunity to sell them more widely.

India has 5500 clusters of similar small producers who can market their products to the world if given the right support. They need policies to provide them with finance, technology, networks, branding and better organization.

With this support, the world can enjoy not only our mithai but apples from Sopore, jeans from Ballari, Kolhapuri chappals, pineapples from Meghalaya, makhana from Bihar, brassware from Moradabad and many more. The global success of Banarsi saris is a great example of what is possible.

India needs rapid economic growth which benefits everyone, and a more productive economy which can compete on the global stage. This can only be done by empowering our small businesses, rather than focusing on a few crony companies like Modiji has done.

Such inclusive growth is the only way to create the crores of formal jobs India needs to meet the aspirations of a young, educated and energetic generation and secure India's future.

The BJP has failed the economy in Haryana and India. They have pushed crores into informal jobs and forced lakhs to leave India by destroying small businesses. Their only interest is in products that are mass-produced by Adani!

The people of Haryana understand this very well. They will soon strike the next blow to break the chakravyuha of Modiji's crony capitalist policies.

When the owner of a small business, like Annapoorna restaurant in Coimbatore, asks our public servants for a simplified GST regime, his request is met with arrogance and outright disrespect.

Yet, when a billionaire friend seeks to bend the rules, change the laws, or acquire national assets, Modi Ji rolls out the red carpet.

Our small business owners have already endured the blows of demonetisation, an inaccessible banking system, tax extortion and a disastrous GST. The last thing they deserve is further humiliation.

But when the fragile egos of those in power are hurt, it seems humiliation is exactly what they’ll deliver.

MSMEs have been asking for relief for years. If this arrogant government would listen to the people they would understand that a simplified GST with a single tax rate would solve the problems of lakhs of businesses.
