This week, our Wellness Wednesday is a pre-recorded conversation between Kathleen Sawyer, naturopath and kinesiologist (and former midwife/nurse) in South Australia, and Rosemary, our newest Wellness Wednesday Volunteer Host.

This is the second in Kathleen's naturopathy series, this time on the topic of Fasting for Health. It will be available to watch on our PHA Australia Rumble channel on Wednesday 29th May from 4.30pm AWST at this link: https://rumble.com/v4y0uke-wellness-wednesday-with-kathleen-sawyer-fasting-for-health.html

This was a very thorough, deep-dive into fasting: the history behind it, how and why it works, the different fasting options, the benefits, contraindications, and even delicious recipes!

For more information, Kathleen can be contacted via her website: https://www.soulbotanica.com.au

U.K. UPDATE:

Morning all!

We’ve made many observations over previous months but one that is key is the following:

Many farmers are unaware of the ‘bigger picture’ at play here. Getting them all onboard swiftly is proving arduous. We are combatting by recruiting volunteers to act as Ambassadors and help us reach more farmers and producers.
However, having spoken to some in the industry recently, we all concur the changes will be driven by consumers. We are supporting local groups in accessing land and creating small, local, mixed farms to serve the community. This will take time but some are already happening and moving.
Large, industrial farms are something we steer of but we need to counter with small farms. The farmers will eventually catch on to public opinion and likely many will start transitioning. We are here to support that but can only do so much without funding. If we had the gov DEFRA budget it would all be done within a year!

We are also meeting with farmers ref geoengineering this week and our new ambassador has tech to mitigate the impacts. He will be doing soil testing for farmers to show metallic particulates and how to heal soil. We will share as much of this as possible whilst protecting identities.

There is much good stuff happening here but as we can all feel, the shit will be hitting the fan pretty soon. At that point we think farmers will naturally shift to supply their community. Humanity and compassion will win and then the shift will happen organically. Be prepared for this and to connect closer with local farmers and producers. Think like a war-time mentality.

All is going as expected for those of us who have been on this journey for more than a couple of years.

Prepare people around you to jump in and help food producers when things go nuts. Encourage people to grow their own and form local growing groups. Start getting on the land as a much as possible and build routes to the market and local processing to help get food off farms and onto plates as effectively as possible.

Change is coming. We just need to make the process as smooth as possible for everyone.

Much love to all and keep pushing. Nearly there. Kxxx

It’s incredible. Just mind blowing, what has been achieved so swiftly. Shows you how INEPT and SELF-SERVING the majority of politicians have been over the years. It’s time for change.

Nurturing #TeenageMentalHealth.
Tips and Insights for a Brighter Tomorrow

In today's fast-paced world, teenage mental health is more crucial than ever. With the pressures of school, social media, and personal challenges, it's essential to prioritise mental well-being. In the United Kingdom, statistics show that approximately 1 in 6 young people aged 5 to 16 experience a mental health condition, with half of all mental health problems starting by the age of 14. These numbers highlight the importance of early intervention and support.

Here are some practical tips and insights to help teenagers nurture their mental health:
1. Open Up About Feelings:Encourage open communication about emotions. Bottling up feelings can lead to increased stress and anxiety. Whether it's with friends, family, or a trusted adult, talking about what's on your mind can provide relief and perspective.
2. Prioritize Self-Care:Make self-care a priority. This includes getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, and engaging in regular physical activity. Taking care of your body can have a significant impact on your mental well-being.
3. Limit Screen Time:While technology has many benefits, excessive screen time can negatively impact mental health. Set boundaries around device use, especially before bedtime. Opt for offline activities like reading, exercising, or spending time outdoors.
4. Practice Mindfulness:Incorporate mindfulness practices into your daily routine. This could include meditation, deep breathing exercises, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the present moment. Mindfulness can help reduce stress and increase resilience.
5. Seek Support When Needed:Don't hesitate to seek support if you're struggling. Whether it's from a school counselor, mental health professional, or helpline, reaching out for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. There are many resources available, so don't hesitate to ask for assistance.
6. Build Healthy Relationships:Surround yourself with supportive and positive relationships. Healthy friendships and family connections can provide a strong support system during challenging times. Remember to also set boundaries and prioritise relationships that uplift you.
7. Find Meaningful Activities:Engage in activities that bring you joy and fulfillment. Whether it's pursuing a hobby, volunteering, or participating in sports, finding activities that resonate with you can boost your mood and sense of purpose.
8. Educate Yourself About Mental Health:Take the time to educate yourself about mental health. Understanding common mental health conditions and their symptoms can help you recognize when you or someone you know may need support. Knowledge is empowering.
Conclusion:In a world filled with pressures and challenges, prioritising teenage mental health is essential. By implementing these tips and insights, teenagers in the UK can take proactive steps to nurture their well-being and build resilience for the future. Remember, you are not alone, and support is always available. Together, we can create a brighter tomorrow for teenage mental health.
