Navigating Expectations: Striving for Personal Growth Amidst Family Pressure

There are several obstacles hindering both my career and personal development. Recently, whenever I express a desire to undertake a more significant project, my relatives repeatedly suggest, “Get married, get married.” Is it really that simple? At this moment, I prefer not to discuss this further. However, I can’t help but question why we are expected to live according to the beliefs of our relatives. Why should they have the power to determine my future? Lately, I have felt an increasing sense of control from their side, with frequent lectures, particularly for striving to improve and surpass their expectations. I suspect that I will soon face more criticism. At what point do people start focusing on their own lives and aspirations, rather than living in accordance with others’ standards? Regarding marriage, I will marry one person out of two ideals. Specifically, she must be fully compatible with my values, as I am committed to being equally aligned with hers. May I share something? I believe I’ve found her😁. However, I feel that I need an overwhelming sense of confidence—at least 101%—to approach her and initiate a conversation, even if it’s just to say, “How are you?” She seems to be the one who is truly right for me.
