✏️Long-awaited Writing Meditation?‍♀️

For the most part, this is a body scan meditation with a couple of writing references and visualisation. Hope it makes the writing process more enjoyable and mindful?

***✨***The Event of the Year***✨***

The Event of the Year

“I wish I knew” conference is sooo me! It’s the embodiment of everything I value about my vocation as a teacher.

✔️ It’s all the way educational and practical. 30 teachers sharing their first-hand experiences of everything from promotion to dealing with dyslexia. This is a collective quintessence of years of experience and tons of classes.

✔️It’s about giving rather than receiving. All the money collected goes straight to a charitable cause.

It’s well-thought-through. It moves at a steady pace over the course of 7 days, with 4-5 talks scheduled daily. A beautifully designed conference workbook with prompts is a true masterpiece.

✔️ It’s high quality CPD. All talks are pre-moderated twice by one and only Cup of ELT. Yuliya Kumicheva. I dare say she is one of the most imaginative and skilled teacher trainers. All the speakers are students of hers. I know a bunch of them personally and you can't pass up the chance to see them all live and in one place.

I feel privileged to not only be a speaker at IWIK this year, but also one of the fairies who assist in organizing the conference.

I’m going to talk about how to fall in love in writing. After my talk you will definitely be more inspired than ever to learn and teach writing. More importantly, you will know what to do!

Honestly, don’t miss out on IWIK. Follow the link!

I held the book club on …

I held the book club on his “Thinking, Fast and Slow” last summer and spent sleepless nights reading into his ideas, crafting materials and trying to wrap my head around statistics.

I was deeply touched by the death of Daniel Kahneman, a renowned psychologist and economist. Although dying at 90 years old with the Nobel prize under the belt is the best case scenario, losing such a genius is still a tragedy.

Oh what a man! Ready to put his own expertise on the line in order to dig deeper! He was courageous enough to admit that his judgement was flawed in spite of years of experience. He was curious enough to ask the right question - what is there that I don’t see? Daniel and his co-researcher, Amos Tversky, who died before their brainchild was recognized by the Nobel Committee, came up with the WYSIATI rule (what you see is all there is). It states that when people are presented with evidence, they do not question what evidence might be missing. An example of that can be making a big decision on the basis of just one good report.

Another rule devised by Kahneman is the Peak-End rule. According to it, people judge an experience as good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant based on how they felt at its peak and at its end. If “Thinking, Fast and Slow” and the Nobel’s prize were the peak of Kahneman’s life, I guess now we observe its end. I just wish this last vivid snapshot of his life was him and Amos Tversky finally reuniting and having one more lively debate over lunch at Cafe Rimon. Amos would be so surprised to find out about the Nobel prize and that his wife was dating Daniel after his death lol

Goodbye,
Daniel Kahneman
And thank you for your endless curiosity and insights

I'm thinking of creating a regular rubric = #spotthethief. Not sure about the regularity, though. While I'm giving feedback to my students' writing, I often discover some gems. I don't think they should go to waste. So!

Do you feel that something is off in this sentence? What is it?

?"It is a well-known fact that all forms of fitness prevent risks of heart diseases and keep fit."
