Abdullah Ibn Mas'ud (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) said:

He shall perish whose heart does not recognize good (so that he can seek it) or evil (so that he can avoid it).

Some of the Salaf (may Allah have mercy upon them) said,

Whenever Allah wants good for His slave then He opens up for him the door of action (doing good deeds, worship) and closes the door of argumentation (disputes, debates, he said she said, refutations).

Whenever Allah wants evil for His slave then He closes for him the door of action and opens up the door of argumentation.

The Women Scholars and Their Modesty

Hafidh Ibn Hajr (rahimahullah) says;

And we often find that the (great) status of women was unknown and the reason for that was their shyness (modesty) and their voluntarily being locked up (i.e., staying) in their bedchambers (boudoirs, indoors, homes). So nothing was known about their conditions (achievements, high rank, great knowledge etc).

Seeking to Please The People Instead of Allah Destroys People

Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi (rahimahullah) stated:

**Know, that most of the people are only destroyed due to their fear of the blame of the people and loving to be praised by them.

As a result (of that), all of their movements (actions) become in agreement with that which pleases the people hoping for their praise and fearing their blame.

That is from the things which destroy (a person), therefore, it is obligatory to remedy it.**

When Your Trust in Allah is Sincere

Whoever is truthful and sincere in his reliance upon Allah to achieve or obtain something, he will (certainly) obtain it (and better than it, and it will be made easy for him).

Follow Those Who Have Died; The Living Are Not Safe From Fitnah

The Great Companion,
‘Abdullaah Ibn Mas’ood (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) said:

Whoever wants to follow a path, let him follow the path of one who has died, for indeed **the living are not safe from fitnah.

I mean (follow) the Companions of Muhammad** (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam).

**They were the best of this ‘ummah: the purest in heart, the deepest in knowledge and the most straightforward.

Allah chose them

to accompany His Prophet (salAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) and establish His religion,

so recognize their status

and follow in their footsteps

and adhere as much as you can to their example of conduct and attitude,

for they followed true guidance.**

‘Umar Ibn al-Khattāb (raḍiyAllāhu ‘anhu) said:
Assume the best about your brother (fellow Muslim, companion, spouse, friend, family) until what comes to you from him overcomes you. (But know that) you can never pay back someone who disobeys Allah in his dealings with you with anything better than obeying Allah in your dealings with him.[Abu Dawud, Kitaab az-Zuhd, article 89]
