Update: I had planned to release a Christian Hero’s Journal as an interactive 100-day workbook for finding, funding and fulfilling your life’s purpose. I’m not saying I have all the answers, but I hope there’s some value for others from my failures and lessons learned in darkness last year. I had a death in the family to contend with that delayed this effort, but aiming to get out in the next week

“And David PERCEIVED that the Lord had established him king over Israel, and that he had exalted his kingdom for his people Israel’s sake” (2 Samuel 5: 12)

This bible verse in David’s story deeply GRIPPED me and I wanted to know your thoughts on it.

Here’s a take for what it’s worth…my biggest struggle in life was a lack of true identity before being saved again.

David’s story deeply resonated with me because to me it seems to be his biggest struggle as well…until this verse.

Faith defeated Goliath, but it took David fully owning his God-given identity in 2 Samuel 5:12 to take the throne.

Not just David having faith in what God can do, but faith in what God can do THROUGH him.

It took a Goliath to reveal a David, but it took a hero’s journey to produce a King.

Faith is the engine, but David’s works are the vessel and trials & tribulations the fuel that got him there.

David conquered the identity crises that the serpent created in the Garden of Eden, against God, Adam and Eve, with his song of praise and his life becoming a message of God’s mercy.

David overcame the identity crises from the Garden of Eden by conquering the stronghold of corruption (“land of the blind and lane”) to clear a way for light and secure his destiny.

Now he possessed the “City of David.”

David made his identity a matter of deep worship to Father God.

Our identity is the key to our destiny.

When our worship includes our identity as well as our Father God’s identity, we have found the key of David…that opens doors that no man can shut.
