KMA Moot Court Society launches its own ProMут podcast about...

... well, moot courts and everything connected to them🌟

We will talk to mooties and coaches to debunk some of the myths and fears and show how the universe of moot courts really works. We hope that both newcomers and experienced mooties will find it useful and entertaining.

The pilot episode of the podcast is already here. We talked to Anastasiia Shashkevych, the President of Kyiv-Mohyla Moot Court Society, about what moot court is in simple terms, its stages, pecularities, and, of course, benefits. So go to our YouTube channel and dive into the world of moots with ProМут!🎧****

Shout out to our FDI stars!

Shout out to our FDI stars!

Our mooties Karyna Kryvytska and Hanna Shoiko participated in Foreign Direct Investment International Arbitration Moot and took 3rd place!

Almost 170 teams gathered to deal with the issues of international investment law. Hard work and dedication led our girls to remarkable success.

Girls are very grateful to the team's sponsors CMS CMNO and Avellum. Special thanks to Avellum for their insightful training.

Proud of our small but strong team! Congratulations!🌟

Boo!***👻***

Boo!👻

It is Halloween time and this night will be the scariest of the year. However, our mooties are definitely not intimidated of a challenging case. What would they say about their real fears?

- "The President will fall into a second coma" - Jessup team told us. - “We are afraid of things that appear in our research, for example: there is a weapon controlled by AI, which has a base of people to kill automatically” - says the ICC team
- "The most frightening thing was that the moot courts of ICL found practical application in Ukraine"Nuremberg team.
- "Our fear is not having time to live”  — says the VIS team.

But we do know how to find a way to fight the fear!

VIS team says teambuilding is the way to go. It's important to get people together in working process by organizing the workload & roles, and hanging out together.
ICC, Nuremberg & Jessup teams do it like lawyers: they know a good research takes away all the fears.

Ultimately, it’s all about facing fears head-on and finding courage in unity🎃

Call for the second fundraiser for the nephew of Kateryna Kaiun, a leading specialist at the Department of International and European Law at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy!

Thanks to your immense support, KMMCS managed to raise 66,366 UAH for Ivan Kaiun’s unit as a part of the First Fundraiser Call. With this money, Ivan was able to repair the unit’s car, which was previously damaged by shelling, and buy a night vision device.

This time Kateryna Kaiun is again asking for our helping hand, and for this matter the KMMCS Executive Board decided to launch a second-help fundraiser for thermal imaging cameras for Ivan.

Thanks to the support of the KMMCS alumni, we managed to raise 17 000 UAH as a part of the second fundraiser. Due to the urgency, the money is being sent to Ms Kateryna continuously, and all the receipts will be provided accordingly. As of now, Kateryna Kaiun needs less than 9 000 UAH to buy the first thermal imaging camera and 45 000 to buy a second one.

We thank you for any contributions on your side, your support and compassion as KMMCS alumni and friends are greatly appreciated!

Drawing nearly 200 participants from six continents, the 15th annual Leiden-Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition unfolded between April 18th and 20th, 2024. This esteemed event was hosted by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México and co-organized by the International Institute of Air and Space Law (IIASL) at Leiden University, in collaboration with the Sarin Memorial Legal Aid Foundation.

Out of the 17 teams qualifying for the international rounds this year, the team comprised of Liubomyr Bahan and Andriy Kostyuk (3rd year students), showcased exceptional talent, securing the Best Memorial Applicant award. Moreover, Liubomyr Bahan was honored as the Competition's Best Oralist! Overall, the team achieved the second place for their Respondent and the third place for their Applicant.

The Team extends heartfelt gratitude to their partners, Emirates and Yevgeniy Ivanov, whose unwavering support ensured exclusive travel conditions for the participants. Special thanks are due to the coaches, Andriy Guck and Mariia Tereshchenko, and Olena Guck, Director of Ante Law Firm, for their invaluable guidance and mentorship, which significantly contributed to this achievement.

We are thrilled to announce our KMA team participation in the International & European Tax Moot Court Competition.
It is the biggest and most prestigious international moot court competition in the sphere of tax law, raising issues of globalisation and importance of effectively resolving cross-border tax disputes under international and European tax law.

This year's case study deals with the issues of tax residency and taxation rights of different states for the digitalised economy.

The team is comprised of talented Yana Hordenko, Kateryna Omelchuk, Yaroslav Shevel, and Oleksandr Rumiantsev. Esteemed coaches, Vadim Medvedev and Oleksandra Zmazhenko, are guiding the team in this formidable endeavor and provide their unwavering support and mentorship which are invaluable assets to the team.

It just so happens that the final round of the Moot Court takes place in Belgium, which is known for its delicious beer and chocolate. So during this month the team is working very hard and actively training to go to Belgium and win (not to drink Belgian beer and eat chocolate).

We wish our team the best of luck in Belgium!
