And it's even more convenient for the establishment that, as a result of the nationwide civil unrest we've been witnessing the last few days, they now get to implement all sorts of authoritarian crackdowns, including the roll out of facial recognition cameras, new police powers, and tougher legislation against what they deem to be "misinformation".

Well that wasn't at all predictable. ?

Create the problem, incite the desired reaction from the public, then use that reaction as an excuse to impose your pre-determined "solution"—in this case, facial recognition, digital ID etc—which would have been hard to pull off without the manufactured problem and subsequent public reaction.

If this strategy wasn't so effective, it wouldn't be employed so extensively.

But as more and more people become savvy to it, it'll cease to be so effective.

1. Deliberately incite civil unrest, as a pretext to roll out digital ID, facial recognition cameras, and various other authoritarian crackdown measures.
