We are pleased to introduce you to the last section of Mendeleev 2024 which is «Economics of the chemical industry in the context of modern challenges»

«The chemical industry in the Russian Federation is a system-forming industry that
ensures the work of other sectors and complexes of the national economy, therefore, the long-term development of the chemical industry must take into account various economic, environmental, social and political challenges to ensure the competitiveness of the industry. Our section will address issues related to tools and best practices for developing our own base of innovative technologies and sustainable development. The object of special attention will be the digital transformation of chemical sector, ways of financing and measures of state support for high-tech projects, including in the absence of access to international capital markets and the inflow of foreign direct investment» – chairman of the section, Ph.D. in Economics, Associate Professor of the Department of Enterprise Economics, Entrepreneurship and Innovation at SPBU, Maria Vetrova.

Within the framework of this section, reports on the following areas will be heard:
1. Chemical industry under sanctions and import substitution policy in the industry:
short-term solutions and long-term strategies;
2. New international and domestic markets, advanced technologies and products of
the chemical industry;
3. Closed-loop economy and climate agenda-«green» chemistry solutions;
4. Digitalization of chemical industry enterprises: challenges and opportunities;
5. State support and financing policy for high-tech projects in the chemical industry.

“The development of computational chemistry methods and specialized software packages has led to a significant increase in the role of numerical simulations in modern chemistry. The vast majority of advanced chemical research today is a closely integrated effort of experimentalists and theorists. The range of problems that can be solved by methods of computational chemistry - prediction of various properties of molecular systems, investigation of chemical reaction mechanisms, determination of the possibility of reactions before the experiment, etc. - is constantly growing. And although computational chemistry often allows to give answers to questions without going to the real experiment, it becomes possible only with careful design of the numerical experiment and interpretation of the obtained data.
