Quorthon from Bathory was a Folkish Heathen

In a 1989 letter to American fantasy author and friend of his Dean Anderson, Quorthon confided that he was a member of the Swedish Breidablikk-Gildet.

The Breidablikk-Gildet was, according to Linköping University lecturer Fredrik Gregorius, "a nationalistic semireligious order founded by Arne Sjöberg in 1975", and that another later group called Telge Fylking "became important for future Heathen movements in Sweden in several ways, particularly in terms of a political stand against racial interpretations of Heathenism" such as that represented by the Breidablikk-Gildet [source]. Furthermore, in a 2021 article in The Romanian Journal for Baltic and Nordic Studies, a scholar named Irina Manea wrote that in Breidablik-Gildet, Sjöberg had "patterned an order with a cultural an nationalist orientation bringing it closer to right-wing milieus."

I'm exposing this for two reasons:
1) Because Quorthon's natural, healthy instincts should be a source of inspiration and a further reason to admire this truly great man.
2) Because I (as a much less successful musician than he) have been hauled over the coals for holding the same worldview that Quorthon seemingly did - often by journalists and metal fans who claim to be Bathory fans.

So, fellow Bathory fans, let's celebrate this great man's work with more enthusiasm than ever before. And thank you to my friend who brought this information to my attention.
