*▫️The Definition of Islām*

Islām is: submitting to Allāh with Tawhīd, and worshipping him with obedience, and disavowal of the disbelievers and their disbelief.

And the evidence for this definition is:

**وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓا۟ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ حُنَفَآءَ وَيُقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُؤْتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ۚ وَذَٰلِكَ دِينُ ٱلْقَيِّمَةِ

even though they were only commanded to worship Allāh ˹alone˺ with sincere devotion to Him in all uprightness, establish prayer, and pay alms-tax. That is the upright Way. (98:5)**

Unfortunately we see a lot of people who say "leave this disavowals and stuff, I pray and I fast and I don’t have anything to do with the disbelievers!"

Allāh speaks about Ibrāhīm ﷺ in this verse:

**قَدْ كَانَتْ لَكُمْ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌۭ فِىٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مَعَهُۥٓ إِذْ قَالُوا۟ لِقَوْمِهِمْ إِنَّا بُرَءَٰٓؤُا۟ مِنكُمْ وَمِمَّا تَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ كَفَرْنَا بِكُمْ وَبَدَا بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكُمُ ٱلْعَدَٰوَةُ وَٱلْبَغْضَآءُ أَبَدًا حَتَّىٰ تُؤْمِنُوا۟ بِٱللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥٓ

You already have an excellent example in Abraham and those with him, when they said to their people, “We totally dissociate ourselves from you and ˹shun˺ whatever ˹idols˺ you worship besides Allāh. We reject you. The enmity and hatred that has arisen between us and you will last until you believe in Allāh alone.” (60:4)**
So look how was the stance of Ibrāhīm against his people because of their rejection of Tawhīd, and so should be your stance against those who reject Tawhīd.
