How similar yesterday is with today,
Al-Hussain on desert sands did lay.
For three long days his body stayed,
While today, al-Jawad's fate is weighed.

Under the sun, on his roof high,
Al-Jawad poisoned, left to die.
Yet his body, spared the cruel trampling hooves,
Still bears the pain, the heartache proves.
