Out of hundreds of students who applied for IVYonaire’s Financial Aid Full Support Program, we selected a group of talented individuals who showed exceptional drive, resilience, and vision. Asilbek was one of them.

And today, that hard work paid off.

🏛 Asilbek has been accepted to The University of Chicago (TOP 20) - one of the most competitive universities in the world - with a full-ride scholarship worth over $420,000 for four years.

But it didn’t stop there. UChicago is need-aware, meaning financial need can influence admissions decisions. Yet, despite the odds, they chose him. And beyond full tuition and living expenses, the university also awarded him $5,000 per summer to support research, internships, or graduate-level coursework.

💡 Throughout his admissions journey at IVYonaire, he worked closely with our mentors and a former Head of Stanford Admissions, refining his application and crafting his essays.

Asilbek was a research assistant to an NYU professor, contributing to a youth entrepreneurship study. He also co-founded SAT Makon, a prep platform that has helped thousands of students improve their SAT scores. Beyond academics, he founded an economics community.

It wasn’t about checking boxes or following a script - it was about building something real, step by step.

Indeed, it is an undeniable truth that nearly every student accepted to a foreign university has attended an MUN at least once. So, you might wonder: is it still worth attending an MUN if it doesn’t give you an edge in the application pool?

⚡️ Today, we’re here to explore what research activity and walk you through the step by step guide to conduct it and enrich your activities list. First, let's discuss what research activity is. A research activity is an in-depth investigation undertaken to discover new insights within a field or to re-evaluate existing findings that may lack clarity or conviction. High school students often find it challenging to conduct professional-level research independently due to limited skills or lack of supervision. However, don't let that discourage you; here is a guide for you.

1️⃣ Seek Guidance from your School Teacher

If you want to add a research activity to your list, start by reaching out to a teacher who specializes in the subject area of your interest. For instance, if you're fascinated by human behavior from a game theory perspective, approach a social science teacher and ask if they know of anyone conducting research in this area. They may be able to connect you with a mentor or suggest someone who could offer guidance as you pursue a research assistantship.

2️⃣ Independent Research Path

If your teacher isn’t able to connect you with a mentor, don’t lose hope—independent research is another viable option. You can design and carry out your own research project, and, for a nominal fee, publish your findings on Google Scholar. To begin, identify an ecological, economic, or social issue you’re passionate about, such as why some students learn at different rates or the reasons behind income disparities. ℹ️ Passion project is an essential part of your university application. Today, we’re focusing on passion project, understand what it is, and how to find one. Before we go to the tips, let's first clarify what the passion project is.

⚡️What is a Passion Project?

A passion project is a personal endeavor driven by your deep interest or enthusiasm for a particular subject, hobby, or cause. It's something you pursue outside of work or school that gives you a sense of purpose and fulfillment. Passion projects can take many forms, such as starting a blog, creating artwork, launching a business, or advocating for social change. Now, let's dive into the tips.

Reflect on what excites or inspires you. This could be anything—technology, writing, environmental activism, cooking, and more. Choose something that genuinely brings you joy. *? Final Announcement: Financial Aid Full Support Program*

We’ve finished the interviews and selected the students for the program! We’ve already reached out to those accepted, and a few students are on the waitlist in case any spots open up.

The competition was really tough this year, with almost 100 applications and an acceptance rate of around 10%. We had to make some difficult decisions, including not admitting students with impressive achievements like international Olympiads, SAT scores over 1500, and other very strong candidates due to the highly competitive applicant pool.

? Congrats to those who were selected! For those who weren’t, please don’t be discouraged. There will be more opportunities, and we appreciate all the effort you put into your applications. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors!
