The night prayer?****

﴾ And those who spend the night in worship of their Lord, prostrating and standing﴿

(25:64)

Ibn Abbas said: “Whoever prays two rak’ahs or more after ’Isha has spent the night in worship of Allah, in prostration and standing.”

Do not be surprised by what is happening to the ummah today—by the humiliation and weakness we are facing. Do not be surprised when an enemy no longer bothers to hide their hatred towards us. Do not be surprised by the lack of action on our part. Each of us is responsible for our current situation. We sin during the day and sleep through the night. We neglect our brothers and sisters even from our adiyah. We seek approval from the very enemies who wish to remove us from this earth.

If only we feared Allah. If only we truly adhered to the Quran and Sunnah. If only we sincerely sought forgiveness. Perhaps then Allah would grant us strength and we would not be so weak.

As Amir Khattab رحمه الله said: When Allah sees our sincerity, He ﷻ will grant us victory.

But how can we expect victory in this state?

Sins often lead to depression, anxiety, and lack of success in life. However, when you sincerely repent, Allah removes these burdens from your heart and grants you the ability to accomplish the things you had previously neglected.

Among the Fruits of Seeking Forgiveness:

Seeking forgiveness cleanses and purifies the heart:

Istighfār cleanses the heart from the darkness of sins and wrongdoings.

From the hadith of Abu Huraira (رضي الله عنه) from the Messenger of Allah (صل الله عليه وسلم) who said: “Verily, when a servant commits a sin, a black spot appears on his heart. If he repents and seeks forgiveness, his heart is polished clean. But if he continues, the blackness increases until it overwhelms his heart. That is the rust which Allah mentioned in His Book: ‘No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.’”

(Surat al-Mutaffifin, 14)
