Key DAF Suggestion: (because lots of queries regarding this)

Don't leave any State/Cadre preference unfilled/ put 99 into it. The cadre allocation process is quite complex/confusing especially for newbies.

Filling all cadres and all zones is most rational choice as of now in almost all practical circumstances. So don't get confused or innovate, follow CONVENTIONAL WISDOM. (Same for Service Preference unless very solid reasons, based on rationality and consulting with seniors in THOSE services !)

If anyyy confusion, just follow the GENERAL TRENDS in past year allocation pdf available on DOPT website!

Lots of queries We are getting regarding UPSC DAF especially Cadre and Service Preferences. Kindly PM me if it's something technical aspect related doubt, I shall reply whenever free (as quite  busy in real life !)

Also always fill "innovative or radical change" preferences after due consideration with seniors inside the system. DON'T APPLY YOUR OWN MIND without good understanding of things just on the basis of hearsay. Many people regret later for many years for preferences filled casually in this phase. So be careful and don't take these preferences lightly. Also overthinking shall be avoided, bahut jyada logo se discussion karke bhi confusion or anxiety hi badegi. So optimal balance between casual and extra worrying attitude shall be maintained while filling DAF.

Another important point is don't unnecessarily put too many things in hobby/scholarship/sports page in order to show that you are a diverse personality! Always fill least and most important words in your DAF in order to avoid skewed preparation on single page of DAF.

Further many people don't fill DAF till very last thinking that some divine light come on last day last minute , and a few fails to submit it on last day due to network issues. So DO FILL YOUR DAF TIMELY don't wait for last day ! People have suffered too heavily due to non-filling of DAF timely so being considered as NO PREFERENCE candidate and getting allocated randomly.

Also send your DAF to different backgrounds people and ask them to ask you few questions on each page which comes in their mind. This will help sharpen your DAF preparation.

Mirror practice, Mock Practice, Group Based interaction do help if done in a balanced way and clarity of objectives.

Lastly in the end it's all random. So FOCUS ON ESSENTIALS, CONTROL THE CONTROLLABLES !
