Entropy computing: is a new form of computing. I thought it was a subfield inside quantum computing but that was not right.
Quantum computing works based on the principle of quantum mechanics, specifically phenomena like superposition and entanglement.We also use qubits for representing information.
Entropy Computing is a system that uses thermodynamic principle and the concept of entropy to perform computation.it basically explore how information processing could be optimized through the management of randomness and disorder. It has been a while since I have read about thermodynamics but yes. Entropy-based approaches mainly focus on energy efficiency and uses randomness to compute rather than deterministic approaches.
Types of problems they address:
Quantum Computing: well suited for complex, computationally intensive problem that involve large scale factorization, quantum simulation and optimization problem where quantum speed up can happen.
Entropy Computing : for tasks that can leverage randomness or are optimized through probabilistic reasoning such as machine learning, data compression and optimization problem where energy efficiency is prioritized.
Example:
- Combinatorial optimization problems such as NP-hard max-cut problem
- Problem with higher-order interactions
- Problems with natural sum constraints
