*In 1857, Pastor James Lord Pierpont (1822-1893), uncle of the renowned financier J. P. Morgan, published a melody titled "One Horse Open Sleigh" for the American Thanksgiving celebration.

Inspired by winter strolls in Massachusetts, where silent sleighs required bells to alert pedestrians, it saw no commercial success.

So, in 1859, he relaunched it with the new title "Jingle Bells," swiftly becoming a "standard" for year-end festivities despite its non-religious content.

Originally associated with adult festive gatherings, accompanied by the jingling of ice in their glasses full of alcohol.

The English lyrics subtly refer to sleigh rides with lovely young girls:
"Now the ground is white, Go it while you’re young, Take the girls tonight, and sing this sleighing song."

"These lyrics sung by adults evoking sleigh rides with pretty young girls raise questions about the intentions and nature of these winter celebrations, especially considering that the expression 'Jingle Bells' to ring the bell could refer to male genitalia."
