It is honorable to be humble and I honor you for your reserved stoicism. However, as we saw with the Korean War, the lack of historical record has let those valiant men be largely forgotten and therefore taken for granted. Worse still, bad actors who have no shame dominate the historical memory and warp the triumphs and tragedies you so earnestly bore.

You answered the call of duty and acquitted yourself with honor, as did your fallen brothers. Do not allow their memory to wither away, or worse, be appropriated in service of the ends of those who would malign their valor. Answer the call once more, share your stories of victory and sorrow, no matter how humble, and honor your fallen brothers-in-arms.

Refuse to allow the courageous actions of valiant men to be forgotten.

I am assembling a series of short memoirs that will be compiled into a book detailing memories from the Global War on Terror. All proceeds from this book will be donated to charities which aid veterans with PTSD.

Remember: heroes never die.
