Digital FUTURES Tutorial: Spanish:GANs Forma y Materia Digital22 Apr 4:00pm EST / 9:00 pm CET / 3:00 pm GMT-5This session introduces Generative Adversarial Network (GAN) manipulation procedures for the construction of generative models of digital form and matter. The challenge of three-dimensionalizing the latent space produced by 2D GAN is assumed through a series of workflows that use datasets as an animated computable matter from which to choose specific sections or moments, ultimately questioning and challenging the role of the designer in a process based on artificial intelligence.

A series of 3D aggregative methods, rooted in a language of superabundance, are applied to GAN models as a way of speculating on a digital materiality that confronts ranges of densities and textures with movement and duration. Animated turntables and front elevations are used to illustrate the vastness of potential results from GAN models. Final design options are drawn from the GAN model based on similarities to existing and new typologies, recognizing the compositional instrumentality of the original dataset.

Esta sesión introduce procedimientos de manipulación de Redes Generativas Adversarias (GAN) para la construcción de modelos generativos de forma y materia digital. Se asume el reto de tridimensionalizar el espacio latente producido mediante 2D GAN a través de una serie de flujos de trabajo que utilizan datasets como una materia computable animada de la cual escoger secciones o momentos específicos, ultimadamente cuestionando y desafiando el papel del diseñador en un proceso basado en inteligencia artificial.

Una serie de métodos agregativos en 3D, enraizados en un lenguaje de superabundancia son aplicados sobre los modelos GAN como una forma de especular sobre una materialidad digital que confronta rangos de densidades y texturas con movimiento y duración. Tornamesas animados y elevaciones frontales son utilizadas para ilustrar la vastedad de resultados potenciales de los modelos GAN. Opciones de diseño finales son extraídas del modelo GAN basadas en similitudes con tipologías existentes y nuevas tipologías, reconociendo la instrumentalidad compositiva del dataset original.

Objetivos de Aprendizaje:
Generación y aumentación de datasets para estudios de forma y materia.

در تقلیل‌یافته‌ترین خوانش، معماری به عنوان «سرپناه» پوششی برای «سر» پدید می‌آورد و لباس به عنوان «تن‌پوش» پوششی برای تن به دست می‌دهد که هر دو به بخشی از بنیادی‌ترین نیازهای بشر می‌پردازند. گفتنی است در پاسخ به سطحی بالاتر از نیازهای بشر این دو به عنوان حوزه‌هایی از هنر محسوب می‌شوند که مبتنی بر دانش «طراحی» هستند. اگرچه افزون بر وابستگی‌های عمیق این دو حوزه به مصالح، ابزار و تکنیک‌های ساخت، آنچه معماری و مد را از سایر هنرها متمایز می‌سازد «کاربردی» بودن آن‌ها است. با این حال کارکرد و مقیاس آثار معماری و مد تفاوتی اساسی دارد. جلسه حاضر در تلاش است به بازشناسی شباهت‌ها و تمایزهای این دو حوزه از منظر مفهومی و عملکردی بپردازد.

But, at a higher level, these two are considered some forms of art based on Design principles. Being functional makes them distinguishable from other kinds of art, although they have some deep relationship in terms of Material, Fabrication techniques, tools, and approaches. However, they have different scales and scopes. This session will explore the similarities and differences between these two in terms of conceptuality and functionality.
