Hopefully they can recover from this misfortune and get another engine online. Always sucks when a little railroad is entirely reliant on a single operational loco, only to have it bite the dust. They might opt to just buy a functional loco instead of trying to restore some clanky Alco. It'd put them back probably $100k in the red, but it may be well worth it. You could easily sink double that amount into a clapped out Alco and still not have it working.

At 11,600 feet, Corona, Colorado was the site of the highest elevation standard gauge rail station in North America. Corona's primary function was to keep trains running despite severe winter conditions. The entire settlement of Corona existed in giant snowsheds, as this photograph of the station shows.
