as a child she reached heights,
all medals hanging on the wall,
perfect scores, perfect voice
too much for a girl so small.

she grew up with the time,
but so does the expectations.
she was now a puppet,
with tons of limitations.

she cant go out with friends,
cant talk to other.
'failure' wasn't in her dictionary
a dictionary crafted by her mother.

defeat was against the rules,
and when you break em, you suffer.
with time things messed up,
it started getting tougher.

now the wall of medals,
just seemed like a cage unfair.
good grades, was the rent
she paid to live there.

if she fails to win,
she had to hear words of despair,
"youre worthless and futile"
"*if i knew, i would have aborted you i swear"

"* why cant you achieve hundred?"
"look at your friend, she is better"
"you are faking your efforts"
"i regret to call you my daughter"

with each word she shed a tear,
countless times she questioned her worth.
"you're crying and talking back?
ugh i shouldn't have gave you birth"

well.
she might not surpass her friend,
perhaps not even outshine the rest
but i know she tries,
she tries to give her best.
