Tenochtitlan was the capital of the Mexican civilization of the Mexica people, founded in 1325. The state religion of the Mexica civilization awaited the fulfillment of an ancient prophecy: the wandering tribes would find the destined site for a great city whose location would be signaled by an eagle with a snake in its beak perched atop a cactus (Opuntia), which had grown from the heart of Copil.

The Mexica saw this vision on what was then a small swampy island in Lake Texcoco, a vision that is now immortalized in Mexico's coat of arms and on the Mexican flag. Not deterred by the unfavourable terrain, they set about building their city, using the chinampa system (misnamed as "floating gardens") for agriculture and to dry and expand the island.

A thriving culture developed, and the Mexica civilization came to dominate other tribes around Mexico. The small natural island was perpetually enlarged as Tenochtitlan grew to become the largest and most powerful city in Mesoamerica. Commercial routes were developed that brought goods from places as far as the Gulf of Mexico, the Pacific Ocean and perhaps even the Inca Empire.

After a flood of Lake Texcoco, the city was rebuilt during the rule of Ahuitzotl, which was between 1486-1502, in a style that made it one of the grandest ever in Mesoamerica.

Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortés arrived in Tenochtitlan on 8 November 1519. Although there are not precise numbers, the city's population has been estimated at between 200,000 and 400,000 inhabitants, placing Tenochtitlan among the largest cities in the world at that time. Compared to the cities of Europe, only Paris, Venice and Constantinople might have rivaled it. It was five times the size of the London of Henry VIII. In a letter to the Spanish king, Cortés wrote that Tenochtitlan was as large as Seville or Córdoba. Cortes' men were in awe at the sight of the splendid city and many wondered if they were dreaming.

Although some popular sources put the number as high as 350,000, the most common estimates of the population are of over 200,000 people. One of the few comprehensive academic surveys of Mesoamerican city and town sizes arrived at a population of 212,500 living on 13.5 km2 (5.2 sq mi). It is also said that at one time, Moctezuma had rule over an empire of almost five million people in central and southern Mexico because he had extended his rule to surrounding territories to gain tribute and prisoners to sacrifice to the gods.

  1. "I was in a really terrible car accident a few years ago and I was stuck in the car, they had to cut me out. During it I came to and there was a woman who had climbed into the rear seat behind me and was holding my shoulders telling me I was going to be okay and that help was coming, I thought she stayed with me until I blacked out and woke up to a fireman cutting the door off and pulling me out. The firemen, paramedics, and my mother who had gotten there quickly all said there was no woman at all, that traffic had gone around and no one had stopped because the fire department was only a few blocks down the road. I can still hear her voice, I know she was touching me, but no one saw her. Freaks me out still."

Three of the world's largest pizza chains are entering Uzbekistan!

Soon, our country will have the three largest pizzeria chains in the world:

? Papa John's - started operating;

?Domino's - in progress;

? Pizza Hut - opening in July.

Why exactly now and almost at the same time?

Please note that earlier international catering chains did not enter Uzbekistan at all, but now there are three at once and almost at the same time.

The reason is actually very simple:

● Although Uzbekistan is still not a rich country, its economic indicators are growing;

● Because interest in the Russian market has weakened, it now needs alternatives;

● Brands are starting to pay more attention to countries they were not interested in before.

Another interesting point is that all these brands are entering Uzbekistan not directly, but through franchising.

Simply put, our local entrepreneurs are buying the right to do business under a well-known brand.

For example, KFC, Costa Coffee and others have entered this way into our country.

This is a popular business model we have now. Therefore, we can expect more foreign brands to appear in Uzbekistan.

?? The Ghazipur landfill (Delhi, India), which is considered the largest in the world, is currently on fire.

Key issues with burning trash are not just the smoke/CO2, but a light type of ash called "fly ash". This is far more dangerous than "bottom ash" as it contains lead, cadmium and arsenic, deadly and cancer causing.

Every year, as mercury levels soar during scorching summers, landfills burst into flames, with rotting waste adding to India’s climate-heating methane gas emissions.

Methane is the second most abundant greenhouse gas after carbon dioxide but is a more potent contributor to the climate crisis because it traps more heat. India creates more methane from landfill sites than any other country, according to GHGSat.

The trash mountain at Ghazipur is just one of some 3,000 Indian landfills overflowing with decaying waste and emitting hazardous gases. Standing at 65 meters (213 feet), it is nearly as tall as the historic Taj Mahal.

Michelangelo's Moses is a marble sculpture …

Michelangelo's Moses is a marble sculpture made in 1513–15. One of the many details of this masterpiece is one very small muscle in the forearms that contracts only when lifting the pinky, otherwise it is invisible. Moses is lifting the pinky, therefore that tiny muscle is contracted.

The sculpture is now housed in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome.

It always freaks me out when I realize that it's muscles in my forearm that control my fingers, not muscles in my finger.

***?*** ***??*** ***??*** In a decade, …

? ?? ?? In a decade, China turned a small island into a shipyard that has more shipbuilding capacity than the entire U.S. Shipbuilding industry.

China's shipbuilding outputs is more than the rest of the world combined.

China is now also a serious competitor in cruise ships and high-end LNG carriers.
Which means it's not just quantity, Chinese shipbuilding has qualitative advantage too. Industrial capacity win wars.

I would recommend to watch the video, it is extremely interesting.

? ?? ?? Biden Administration Launches Probe into China's Unfair Ship buildiing Practices.

The United States Trade Representative (USTR) has announced the launch of an investigation into alleged unfair trade practices by China in the shipbuilding, maritime, and logistics sectors. The probe was initiated in response to a petition submitted by five national labor unions, including the United Steelworkers (USW).

At the same time, the Biden Administration is considering tripling the tariff rate on steel and aluminum imports from China.

“American workers continue to face unfair competition from Chinese imports of steel and aluminum products, which are among the world’s most emissions-intensive. Chinese policies and subsidies for their domestic steel and aluminum industries means high-quality U.S. products are undercut by artificially low-priced Chinese alternatives produced with higher emissions,” the White House said.
