ვისთვისაც ქრისტე ცხოვრების საზრისი არ არის,
ყველა მკვდარია.

თვით სიკეთეც კი მკვდარია და მკვდრები აღასრულებენ,
ეს სიკვდილი, არის სულის სიკვდილი.

ადამიანი, რომელიც ვერ ცნობს ქრისტეს,
ის სულიერად მკვდარია.

ICON OF THE MOTHER OF GOD OF GEORGIA

September 4 marks the feast day of the Georgian Icon of the Most Holy Theotokos.

After the Persian Shah Abbas invaded Georgia in 1622, many Christian holy objects were stolen and taken to Persia to be sold to Russian merchants trading in that region. Among them was a certain clerk Stefan who acquired a beautiful icon of the Mother of God, adorned with silver and gold.

At the same time in Yaroslavl, the merchant George Lytkin, on whose business Stefan was in Persia, received a revelation about the holy icon and was commanded to send it to the Chernogorsk monastery in the Arkhangelsk diocese.

When Stefan returned home in 1629 and showed the icon to George Lytkin, the latter remembered his vision and took the holy image to the Monastery.

The icon was glorified there by many miracles.

I just bought tickets from Kutaisi to Thessaloniki. I'll be flying the evening of Wednesday, 13 November and flying back just before midnight on Saturday the 16th. There is also a return flight that Monday evening. Tickets are around 90 Lari each way (!!!)

14 November is the feast of St Gregory Palamas (27 November OS here). I'll be going to venerate his relics at the cathedral. I hope to make it to the grave of St Paisios too.

???️‍?❌ Anti-LGBT Law “In Defense of Family Values” was announced in the Parliament of Georgia.
Speaker and representative of the ruling party Shalva Papuashvili said that the document will be discussed and adopted, and in the autumn session, after the elections, it will be approved in the third reading.

ℹ️ What concepts does the new law include (it has 17 points, highlighted are the most important ones):
✔️ Marriage is the union of a woman and a man for the purpose of creating a family.
✔️ LGBT people will not be able to adopt children.
✔️ A ban on sex change operations.
✔️ Only biological sex will be included on an ID card or other government-issued document.
✔️ Prohibition of LGBT propaganda in educational institutions, in particular the dissemination of information about same-sex relationships or incest.
✔️ Prohibition for the media to disseminate information aimed at promoting same-sex relationships or incest.
✔️ Broadcasters will be prohibited from distributing footage depicting intimate scenes of representatives of the same sex - the restriction will also apply to footage of similar content in films released in cinemas.
✔️ Public meetings or demonstrations aimed at promoting same-sex relationships or incest are not permitted.

May 17 has already been declared the Family Purity Day, making it a national holiday and a day off (in the world, May 17 is celebrated as the International Day against Homophobia and Transphobia)
