Big Walk Report #5:

I wanted to tell you about this walk I did back in early August.

It was a nice early evening. I decided to take a stroll around the neighborhood, then wander off into another neighborhood nearby. Why not? It was good sauntering weather. I may have had a special guest dog with me, but I won't go into the details. Just know it was a lazy and truculent stroll in beautiful August weather.

I decided to go down a side street I had gone down before. In fact, it was the side street that inspired the very first Big Walk Report last year. A key difference here was that at a certain junction, I decided to take a right and go down another side street that looped around to the main road.

This was a big deal. I had never been down this street before, despite walking past it many times. Nobody could question me as to why I was suddenly in this neighborhood, though, as I was walking a dog. "Why am I here? I'm simply walking this dog," I would say. My ace in the hole. A dog lets you go all sorts of places.

What I liked about this street was that it had a little stream running alongside it, and this stream rounded a bend to follow the road the whole way, so I got this nice little trickling sound during the walk. As I was verily enjoying this, I suddenly heard a commotion coming from a house to my left.

Two women were yelling to a dog, it seemed. The dog got loose in their backyard, from what I gathered, and by the tone of their shouting, it seemed perhaps the dog was chasing after a wild animal, perhaps one that was very dangerous. I stopped and observed. I was worried. Would I need to provide assistance? How would I, considering I had a special guest dog with me? This would complicate matters, verily.

The yelling grew more frantic from the women, and truly I was worried. But thankfully, soon after, I saw them in the distance dragging a dog along back into the house. Hopefully, it didn't get injured. I'm just glad nothing else happened. The guest dog with me was verily alarmed and intrigued as well.

We finished our truculent walk down this stream-lined road and came out back to the main road. We eventually wandered home. I was content with this fine walk in early August, knowing I would have enough material for a decent Big Walk Report in the future.

And oh how sweet that is, my friends. All for now.
