Due to the high level of security and the time required for manual correction, the correction process is expected to be completed by next week. Once the results are posted, the interview will be scheduled at least seven days later to allow sufficient time for travel to Addis Ababa. Our commitment to transparency remains in place during this period, and there will be an opportunity to appeal the results.

Ethiopian Diaspora Medical Professionals move towards bolstering healthcare at home
SPHMMC recently received a donation of hemodialysis catheters and ICU equipment from Ethiopian medical professionals residing in Denver, Maryland, and Washington. The donated items include essential hemodialysis catheters and ICU equipment that would help enhance the hospital's capacity to provide sufficient and critical care services.
Dr. Wultetaw Chanie, the vice provost for Medical services, expressed profound gratitude for the donation, stating, "This kindness and solidarity from our colleagues abroad is truly heartwarming. Their support is instrumental in advancing our mission to deliver top-quality healthcare and meeting the increasing demands of patients." The Ethiopian medical professionals involved in this initiative have a long-standing tradition of giving back to their community. Their latest contribution is a testament to their ongoing dedication to strengthening Ethiopia's healthcare infrastructure and supporting their peers in delivering medical care.

ቅዱስ ጳዉሎስ ሆስፒታል ሚሊኒየም ሜዲካል ኮሌጅ የሚሰጣቸዉን ፈተናዎች በተመለከተ እጅግ ልዩ፤ ግልጽ እና ተአማኒነትን የሚከተል የአሰራር መርህ አለዉ፡፡በዚህ መሰረት 10 ተፈታኞች በፈተናዉ ዉጤት ቅሬታ አቅርበዉ 8ቱ የቃል ፈተና ላይ ሊካተቱ ችለዋል፡፡ በአንፃሩ አንድ ተፈታኝ ለቃል ፈተናዉ ያላለፈ ነገር ግን ቅሬታ አቅርቦ በእጅ በሚታረምበት ወቅት ከፍተኛ ዉጤት በማምጣት ወደ ቃል ፈተናዉ ተካቶአል፡፡ በዚህ ምክንያት
አብዛኛዉ ችግር የነበረዉ
1- ተፈታኖች የፈተናዉ ኮድ በምታጠቁሩበት ወቅት የተሳሳተ የኮድ አጠቋቆር ስለነበር፣ ፈተናው የራሱ ባልሆነ ኮድ መታረሙ
2- ተፈታኞች መልሱን በምታጠቁሩበት ወቅት የተሰጣችሁን መመሪያ በደንብ ስላልተተገበረ አንድአንዶቹ ከተሰጠው ቦታ ውጪ በማጥቆር ፣ ሎሎች በደንብ ያልተጠቆሩ ወይም በደንብ ያልጠፉትን ኮምፒውተሩ ሲያነብ የተሳሳተ ሲል ፤ በእጅ ሲታረም ግን ትክክል እንደሆነ በመቆጠሩ

The SPHMMC Institutional review board (IRB)/Institutional Research Ethics Review
Committee (IRERC) has been accredited as Level A (IRERC-016/2024) by the national
research ethics committee at the FDRE Ministry of Education.

This accreditation will be pertinent to enhancing the IRB's capacity to review, monitor, and
document research protocols and undertakings involving humans in the region, the institution
where it is based, or other institutions that do not have their own IRBs and beyond. Similarly,
Level A IRBs shall be capable of safely guarding the rights, autonomy, safety, and welfare of
human research participants.
This accreditation will give the college IRB/IRERC a mandate to review and approve
- All clinical trials involving new drugs, or new combinations of drugs, vaccines, new
therapeutic regimens, and other biological products as well as invasive diagnostic
procedures. For all research that involves investigational products, authorization and
monitoring by EFDA is a requirement before submitting a protocol for review and
approval.
- Multi-center collaborative research, including student theses (MSc, PhD, specialization
studies) that inherently exhibit more than minimal risk, and experimental/clinical trials.
- Research which is funded by companies producing the experimental product.
- Experimental research which is carried out by a national agency or agencies with
international collaboration.
- Review very urgent research projects that are of national interest and priority,
Beyond this, it will let the college IRB serve as a center of experience sharing among local and
international IRBs. The current step will be a base for international registration of Level A IRBs
such that their reviews are accepted by funding agencies.
The research directorate director acknowledges the top management, all IRB members, staffs of
the research directorate, and those who participated in the development of SOPs since 2021,
MOE, and all that contributed to the realization of the accreditation.

We have planned to mark World TB Day this month, March. As usual, we recognize institutions for what they have been doing in due course of helping the TB and MDR patients. St. Peter’s specialized hospital is thus known for its firm commitment and great contribution to the effort geared towards treating out patients and in patients. This is the concrete ground for us to well recognize this renowned and wonderful institution.
The hospital was established on 1955 EC as the first TB consortium in the country. It was dedicated to admitted Tb patients for inpatient service. The patients initially get evaluation at the OPD which was located at a place named Mesalemia, Currently, Professor Aklilu Lema Memorial Microbiology Research Institute.
Through time, the consortium upgraded to a general hospital to serve the community in wide range of services. As of Apr 2009.GC., the hospital become the first MDRTB treatment center in the country. Since then, the hospital has treated more than 5000 MDRTB patients. Currently the hospital is following 300 patients, admitted 23 patients and established its own MDRTB ICU. The hospital is the first Treatment Initiating Center/TIC and has established many Treatments Follow up Centers/TFC throughout the country that had helped the implementation of Ambulatory model of care replacing the hospitalized model of care. The hospital has shared its experience to nationwide and also internationally. A team of expertise visited Cambodia for the establishment of MDRTB treatment center. The hospital was one of the centers for the STREAM (Evaluation of two short standardized regimens for the treatment of rifampicin-resistant tuberculosis (STREAM stage 2): an open-label, multicenter, randomized, non-inferiority trial) in both stage 1 and 2. The studies took 10 years to complete. Both studies are published at New England Journal of Medicine and Lancet. The result led the shortening of the MDRTB treatment to 6-9 months from 18-24 months. The result of these studies was disseminated to the public nationally. It is approved by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia as well as The World Health Organization. The STREAM research staffs have paid a visit to attend annual investigator meeting to Moldova, India, Mexico, England, Cambodia, etc.…. They have presented the findings from our site and networked with the other site research team.
Currently the hospital is a comprehensive Specialized Hospital.
