'Degoogled' is a term that can (and should) be applied to any area of one's life where anything 'Big' (tech, finance, data, food, pharma etc) is replaced with an open, free (as in Freedom), liberated, transparent and privacy respecting alternative.
It originated from the Geeks of the world wanting to rid themselves from Google, their services and their criminally intrusive data analytic practices and phones were the first to get the 'Degoogled' treatment.
Now however, it can apply to so many aspects of your life!

??? Technology - You can Degoogle phones, laptops, PCs, Smart TVs, Tablets, Kindles, WiFi Routers, Smart Watches, Smart Vacuums…essentially, anything can be hacked for the user's benefit

?? Finance - The world's financial systems have collapsed in the past and will collapse again in the future. 'Big Finance' are for-profit and gamble with your money daily for their own benefit.
Bitcoin is an example of a 'Degoogled' alternative (as is cash). Open Source, Decentralised, Peer to peer, no middle man, transparent and a whole lot more private than standard banking.
Do NOT believe the media bashing Crypto, digital currency will be the future, choose Bitcoin over CBDCs.?? Shopping - Get back on the high street and pay local retailers with cash. Using Amazon only helps Bezos get into Space! Use Freecycle, Trashnothing to find things for free. Oilo to find free groceries too.

?? Physical Surveillance - Do you ever look around you and count the cameras? These cameras are now not just old-skool CCTV but AI powered, facial recognition and constantly harvesting the data it sees. Although in the UK it's almost impossible to escape, BE AWARE, use manned cashiers, buy number plates that reflect ANPR and ULEZ cameras, sunglasses to prevent retina scanning and ALWAYS say no to sharing your data.

??? Food - The food we eat today cannot be classed as food, it's more a chemical process which destroys the planet and your physical/mental health. Eat local, eat direct, use markets and if you cannot pronounce an ingredient, put the product down! Watch any documentary from the 1960s and take a look at how fit and healthy people look. Now, so much of of food is the colour yellow and it's killing us.

??? Healthcare - There is the Big Pharma way of doing business and the natural way. We don't need to preach to this choir regarding this topic after the past 3 years!
What's to come? The next big breakthrough for Big Pharma will likely be Psychedelics so get ahead of the game and get outside and forage magic medicines!

Recently, we reported both the UK government was expected to pass and the EU was about to pass highly controversial ''Online Safety Bills'', marketed to protect children on the internet. The bills would spell the end to internet freedoms as we know them.

**The bills would mean the automatic scanning of all private text and images and the implementation of surveillance bugs and vulnerabilities.

✅ First the POTENTIALLY good news - For EU residents ✅**

??? In a press conference this afternoon (Thursday 26th October) it was announced that the EU Parliament have agreed NOT to move forward with the proposal as it has been presented by the EU Commission but have instead adopted an approach which will remove many privacy concerns.

*? There will be no mass surveillance of digital communications. The EU Parliament instead propose that surveillance will be limited to targeted surveillance of individuals and groups reasonably suspected of dissemination of CSAM and will only be permitted with a judicial warrant
? There will be no interference with e2ee and services providing e2ee will be exempt from the provisions
?*** Providers of communications services will be required to develop their services in more secure ways to help reduce the risk of CSAM being distributed on their platforms

What this doesn't mean however, that the proposal is dead - because this is just the Parliament position and the Council and Commission are still pushing the original proposal (which stands no chance of success in a CJEU challenge).The Parliament will hold their formal vote on November 13th (but the support for this is across all parliamentary groups so the vote is just a formality).

*❌ Now the VERY bad news - for UK residents ❌***The UK's bill, a.k.a. the Online Safety Bill, was awaiting it's final approval by the King himself before becoming law.
That happened today.

We cannot understate what this means for everyone in the UK!It will hand over total control of not only the internet content in the UK but the wholesale scanning of YOUR private communications for anything THEY decide is not acceptable.
Sending beach snaps back to your relatives at home on Whatsapp can be scanned and dissected in case it's child abuse!

What's important to note is that the EU tried to push through the same wholesale privacy intrusions but met with strong push-back by certain countries so made compromises…..the UK went full on surveillance state!

In the last few weeks they have been cracking down heavily on users who block ads and trying to threaten lawsuits on projects that allow you to watch Youtube free and without ad interruptions.

The reason people seek to use these alternatives is to avoid the wholesale data theft Youtube undertake on unsuspecting users which includes;
? Personally identifiable information (PII)
? Scans of credit cards, Passports, Photo ID under the guise of ''Age Verification''
? Geolocation
? Biometric or health data (?!)
? Interactions, behaviors, or usage analytics
? Personal information is shared for third-party marketing
? Worryingly, personal information about users is obtained FROM third parties so it's a two way data theft street here

? Invidious can also be used on any web browser. There is also Piped

In 2026, it's expected to hit $1 Trillion.

They are literally everywhere, even this post is an ad! An honest one though we hope ?
My web browser (Librewolf) has the Ublock Origin browser extension installed. It's stats tell me that in the last 9 months it has blocked a staggering 85,763 ads that my eyes never saw.
**That's 314 per day, every day, for 9 months, on my web browser only.

Only 35% of UK citizens do anything about blocking ads online.

1. Loyalty Card Schemes ???

Sure, store loyalty schemes can often save you money (not always though because even their card offers are often designed to cost you money, not save!) however, is that saving worth losing your personal data?
When you say 'Yes' to a loyalty card, you give consent to the processing of your personal data which includes and links your name, address, email, card details, bank account, times and locations you shop and most valuable, your spending habits and behaviour.
Why is this a problem? 
They sell this data to 3rd parties.  They literally make up the discount they gave you, several fold but auctioning your habits to companies you know nothing about.
Those companies then target advertising towards you. 
For example, buying sanitary products at certain times of the month allows a 3rd party company to throw ads for their own products at you just when you need your next batch!
Would you tell a stranger such personal information? 
Medication?  Again, whatever you buy is passed onto 3rd parties including pharma, then they can build up a perfect little picture of your ailments and needs before forcing advertising down your throat. 

What can you do? ⚖️
? Keep your habits private
? Refuse store cards and delete ones you hold
? Withdraw consent by exercising your GDPR privacy rights
? Ask your store card provider to delete all personal information they hold
? Take back your tech with a phone that is not tracking you.  and delete digital store card apps.
