The right to trespass is something that is part of folkish and nationalist vision of the land, not some Communist vision of abolishing private property and private land.

The idea that wild land is something free for the people to roam and ramble is more inkeeping with our spirit. It should go without saying that it is against our spirit that every public pathway should be digitally logged and categorised, and then, at the flip of a switch, made illegal.

It may be Rousseauian romanticism on my behalf, but I believe that the natural world should exist either through or beyond the state, not under it. The total anthropocentrism of Nature not only does us no favours politically, but is one of the causes behind our spiritual and cultural decline.
