In the blessed times when the Gods walked among us, one of their teachings was the respect for the rhythm of nature and for the understanding of its symbolism.

Even winter offered invaluable presents as the introspection, the reflection, the rest for body and mind, and the great Yule holy days, where songs, dances and feasts honored the gods and the elements.

The time of Samhain is that of the Scorpio sign, originally the Snake, symbol of ascension of the kundalini and the descent in oneself. Harnessing the natural inclination for introspection, the time is for death of the old before the re-birth of the spring.
The Fire accompanied our quest by burning the old Self, leaving raw space in search for the new.

Samhain is the warrior who gets up. Who fights. Samhain is the appeal to give up ignorance, arrogance and subterfuges. It is the opening of the path to Truth. Let's see what comes up in the next few days...

The frightening and death-related aspects of the night derive from an ancient belief that the dimensional layer between the underworld and the world of the living became thinned at that time, allowing ancestors from other dimensions to visit and commune with the living. Samhain was the gateway to the hidden world, nature spirits and the long-gone Anunnaki Gods.

So the beginning of the "dark" period of the year, where a big fire was lit up and attention was put on the invisible world, very far from the immature Halloween, was never representative of putting on costumes, but rather of being closer to one's true self, the astral self, the real nature of humans.

Back to 2000 years ago, the ancient festival of Samhain (Halloween) was celebrated by the Celts, who lived mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France. It was the festival of their new year on November 1 (the beginning of the year on January 1st is a Roman concept).
This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that is now associated with human death.

The Ancients never doubted that Gods were present in the world, ready to show themselves when necessary. The idea of a deity being separate from the world just hanging out above and beyond it is a product of abrahamic anti-theology.
