▪️ Fasting the Eleventh of Muharram▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

The one that was not able to fast the ninth should he fast the eleventh?

? Answer:

It came on the hadith of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) that the Prophet ﷺ said, "Fast a day before it or a day after it." But this hadith is not authentic. It has in it's chain of narrator's Muhammad Ibn Abdur Rahman Ibn Abi Laila, and he is daeef (weak in narrating his hadith). And what was authenticated on the Prophet ﷺ is that he said, "If I live to see the next year I will fast the ninth."
As this come in Sahih Muslim on Ibn Abbas.
But with that said if one was to fast on the eleventh there is not problem with that because the Prophet ﷺ specified being different from the fast of the People of the Book.

So we say what is preferred is to fast the ninth and the tenth. And if one is not able to fast the ninth or he forgot to fast the ninth and he woke up and ate so he decided to fast the eleventh instead, there's no problem in that.

And Allah knows best.

▪️ The Prayer of the Prophet ﷺ for Fajr in Ramadan ▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

How was the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ for Fajr in Ramadan? Was it short the likes of reciting surah Iklaas and al-Kauthar or was it long?

? Answer:

The prayer of the Prophet ﷺ for Fajr in Ramadan was the same as it was outside of Ramadan (it didn't change) it was one. As he would elongate the prayer of Fajr. Those that mention the description of the prayer of the Prophet ﷺ all mention he use to elongate the Fajr prayer. He ﷺ use to recite long surahs (for Fajr) they never mention any acception for Ramadan. And perhaps you will see a person purposely even praying long for the Fajr prayer in Ramadan for a specific reason, so the elders will have time to catch the salaat. But the goal is to follow the way of the Prophet ﷺ. And it is known that he would elongate the prayer for Fajr generally without any specifications. Anyone that specifies his actions to a certain time or place must bring their proof. Like those that say he shortened his prayer in Ramadan, why? Oh because the people are eating suhoor. So he did this to aid them in there suhoor? How? They will say the people are tired they can't stand long. And if he elongates the prayer are they going to fall out from exhaustion and need to go to the hospital?? Look at how shaitan comes to some people beautifying things to them till they oppose the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. This understanding (of opposing the Sunnah) should never be looked at as wisdom and understanding. Wisdom is in following the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger ﷺ. Acting in accordance with the Book and the Sunnah. And we are all in need of (listening and pondering over) the recitation of the Quran at all times. So what is understood is that the prayer is the same in Ramadan as it is outside of Ramadan. The Sunnah of Fajr is to elongate it, as for his way of praying Dhuhr, Asr and Maghreb. Sometimes he would shorten them and sometimes he would lengthen them. And in Isha, sometimes he would pray reciting medium length surahs and sometimes short surahs. This was the Sunnah of Allah's Messenger ﷺ. And many of the scholars have compiled this in their books. This is the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, to elongate the Fajr prayer. Until it was even mentioned that he would elongate the Fajr prayer even while he was traveling. Let's take this proof now. The Prophet ﷺ prayed with the people Fajr, the year of the conquest of Makkah, with the surah al-Mu'minun. And remember this was at the conquest of Makkah, and when was the conquest of Makkah? In Ramadan. So the Prophet recited surah al-Mu'minun for Fajr in Ramadan. Until he reached the story of Musa then he made rukoo. Meaning he recited in one rakat three pages and a half. So this is the proof for elongating Fajr prayer in Ramadan. And likewise while traveling, it was his Sunnah to elongate the Fajr prayer. So this is what we wanted to point out. And acting according to the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ is what is required from us. Acting in accordance with his Sunnah we will find blessings. And the people love this goodness of following the Sunnah. But unfortunately we find many of our imaams of our masaajid being lazy in this Sunnah. It is a must that our imaams be leaders for us in doing good and following the Sunnah. Not always looking for what will please the lazy ones amongst us. All praise to Allah, the Muslims love the Quran, they love the prayer. They love worshipping Allah and obeying Him. So if they find their imaams upon this as well this will help to strengthen them in their worship. So our imaams have to be good role models for the Muslims in engaging in the worship of Allah.

And Allah's aid is sought.

▪️ A Woman has Days to Make Up from Ramadan, Is It Permissible for Her to Feed (Instead of Fasting?▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

A woman still has days to make up from Ramadan as she broke her because she was pregnant. Is it permissible for her feed (instead of fasting?

? Answer:

The answer is no. What is correct is that the pregnant and breastfeeding their ruling is like that of the sick person. For example, she breaks her fast in this Ramadan because she is pregnant then comes the next Ramadan and she also has to break her fast because she is now breastfeeding. And she didn't get to make up any days from the first Ramadan until the second Ramadan came. She is to first make up the days she didn't fast from the first Ramadan as she was between being pregnant and breastfeeding. And she is to make up those days based on when it is easiest for her. And it is not a must that the days be in session, one after the other. That is what is closest to being correct in this situation. As there are some that say the pregnant and breastfeeding can feed the poor for the days they didn't fast. And some say upon her is to feed and make up the days. And others, like Ibn Hazim, said there is nothing upon her, she doesn't have the feed the poor or make up any missed days. Because the Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah has waived half of prayer and fasting from the traveler, and he has granted a concession to pregnant women and the sick."' [Nasai hadith No. 2277] But there is the hadith of the traveler, is it that he doesn't have to make his salaat up? No. The ruling for the traveler has come in the Quran,

{أَيَّامًا مَّعْدُودَٰتٍۚ فَمَن كَانَ مِنكُم مَّرِيضًا أَوْ عَلَىٰ سَفَرٍ فَعِدَّةٌ مِّنْ أَيَّامٍ أُخَرَۚ}
Which translates to:

"[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of other days [are to be made up]." [Baqarah:184]

So the origin of this situation is well known, that the person that breaks his fast for a legislated reason he is to make them up in other days that follow. So the correct ruling is that the pregnant and breastfeeding have the same ruling as the sick. And this was the position of our shaikh Imaam Wadi (may Allah have mercy on him). And likewise this was the position of Shaikh Uthaimeen (may Allah have mercy on him). And it was the position of the Lajnah Daimah.

And Allah knows best.

▪️ What's Better in Ramadan? Reading the Quran While Looking at it or Reviewing and Memorizing▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

Is it better to read the Qur'an in Ramadan while looking at it or review what you have memorized and likewise reviewing your newly memorized surahs?

? Answer:

What is better is reading while he is looking at the Qur'an if he has time outside of Ramadan. Perhaps he has dedicated his time to seeking knowledge and he has time outside of Ramadan to review and memorize new surahs so we would say for him it would be better for him in Ramadan to increase in reciting the Qur'an while looking at it. Now if he doesn't have any other time to do his review or memorize new surahs except in Ramadan then we say to him what is better is that he reviews and memorizes new surahs.

And Allah knows best.

▪️ Taking Pills to Advance the Menstruation Period in Order to Preform Umrah▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

Is it permissible for me to take pills in order to advance my period before its due time, because I will perform Umrah and my Umrah will be at the time of my period, the end of Ramadan?

? Answer:

My response, for the well being of the woman stay away from taking these pills. Whether it is to advance your period or to delay it or to stop it all together. These pills cause harm. And the Prophet ﷺ said, "There should be neither harming (darar) nor reciprocating harm (dirar)." So for the safety of the woman she should avoid these pills. She should be pleased with what Allah has decreed for her in her menstrual period. And as far as her Umrah at the end of Ramadan goes there is no problem for her to go to the Miqat pronounce her Umrah in ihram and remain in her ihram till she becomes pure then preform her Umrah. Actions are (judged) by intentions (niyyah). If she has intended to preform Umrah in Ramadan. Actions are (judged) by intentions (niyyah). And if she becomes pure and Ramadan still remains then she can preform her Umrah. And if it is not possible for her to perform her Umrah in Ramadan because to time she has remaining is only a day or so and she is not able to return then she may look at the side affects of these pills and if they will cause harm she should avoid them and be patient until Allah makes it possible for her to preform Umrah another time.

And Allah knows best.

▪️ Paying Zakat ul Fitr for the One that Dies on the Last Day of Ramadan▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

If a person dies on the last day of Ramadan is Zakat ul Fitr to be given out for him?

? Answer:

The answer is no. Zakat ul Fitr does not have to be paid on his behalf. Because he passed away before the establishment of the new month of Shawaal. If he had passed away once the moon of Shawaal was sited then yes you would pay out zakat ul Fitr for him.

And Allah knows best.

▪️ Does Imaam Mahdi Arrive First or does the Dajjaal?▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

Does Imaam Mahdi arrive first or does the Dajjaal?

? Answer:

The first to appear will be the Mahdi. Then after that the Dajjaal will appear. Then Issa will appear. The Dajjaal will come with 70,000 Jews following him from Asbahan. And Asbahan is present day Iran. And they will come and besiege Issa and his companions in Quds (Jerusalem). And this is evidence that Jerusalem was cleansed of the Jews. Then Issa will go after the Dajjaal with a spear to kill him and when he sees Issa he will melts like salt melts in water. Then he will die and that will be the end of the Dajjaal. Then after that Issa will fight and kill the Jews in an intense battle till the rocks and trees will aid Issa. All these modern day international groups like the UN and the Human Rights Organization will be of no aid to the Jews this day. They are all liars anyway. They will all be done away with and when will this be? At the time the people have purified their hearts their hearing and their vision. This will be an honor from Allah and a great miracle. As Allah says:
{أَلَآ إِنَّ أَوْلِيَآءَ ٱللَّهِ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ° ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ}

That which translates to:

"Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allāh there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve. Those who believed and were fearing Allāh." [Yunus:62-63]

This is there glad tidings in this worldly life. This is there honor till the Day of Judgement. So this is what will transpire first.

As for the question of the battle (that the Muslims and the Christians will fight the Jews and the Jews will overcome them then the Muslims and Christians will defeat them..) what is important is that it has not yet happened.

And Allah knows best.

▪️ Changing Your Intentions in the Prayer▪️

Our Shaykh, Abu Abdillah Muhammad ba Jamaal -may Allaah preserve him- was asked:

? Question:

If I forgot to pray the two rakats before Fajr, then I prayed my two rakats after the sun rises and while praying I remembered I didn't pray my two rakats before Fajr is it permissible for me to change my intention from the two rakats after the sun rises to the two rakats before Fajr? And what are the guidelines that make it permissible to change the intentions in the prayer?

? Answer:

It is permissible for a person to change his intentions from a obligatory prayer to a voluntary prayer. As for changing the intention from an obligatory prayer to another obligatory prayer or from a voluntary prayer to an obligatory prayer this act is not accepted. Or even changing the intention from a voluntary prayer to another voluntary prayer, this is not permissible. Perhaps you start praying one rakat then you want to change to another voluntary prayer. No, first you pray those two rakats of Duha, then if you wish to pray the two rakats of Fajr then pray them afterwards. This will not harm you in the least. You will not become tired or dizzy. But you will find a reward with Allah because it is ibaadah. Shaitan comes to the servant and whispers to him it is difficult. You must fight off Shaitan. Turn away from his doubts. Shaitan comes to attack the worship and to attack goodness. Shaitan was commanded to prostrate but he refused, Adam was commanded to prostrate and he accepted. So now Shaitan cries out of regret when the servant prostrates to Allah. So for Adam is Jannah and for Shaitan is the fire because he refused to prostrate which was a command from Allah. So he is always trying to make worship for the servant difficult. So don't allow Shaitan to make your worship difficult, pray the two rakats of Duha separate then pray your two rakats of Fajr. This is an act of worship and that is an act of worship.

And Allah knows best.
