What is the difference between rooting and jailbreaking mobile devices, why do testers sometimes use them and what are the risks of testing on such devices?

QA expert #1: It reads as an invitation to root your mobile actually. I think the text could extremely shorter and I did not quite understand whether that was about "to root or not to root your testing devices" or that was something like "do be a semi-hacker, don't root your personal mobile or you will lose the warranty".
